Removing a Manners Mini Chassis

Has anybody removed a Mini-Chassis from a Manners stock? How did you get it out?
I have one that runs a little cock-eyed and I have a Badger EFR in the forend so I can't simply sand one side of the barrel channel down. And of course I've waited until last minute so I don't have time to let them fix it.

It looks like it’s rivets in the side of the stock. I’d assume you have to start by drilling those out. I’d personally call Manners and ask them before I screwed up.

Or bed it, if its close enough you can fix that way.

I'm sure it's glued in
It's definitely glued in. I should have given a little more info.

It's just an aluminum block glued into a cavity with what appears to be a Devcon or Marine-Tex type epoxy and a few screws through the side to help hold it.

But I'm not sure how to get the epoxie to release. Would a heavy duty soldering iron strapped to it do the trick maybe?

Do not do that. You will ruin the stock and it will be unusable without the mini chassis in it. Contact Manners and see what they say for a fix.

OP ^^^^^^^
This is the best advice in this thread, and "I don't have time to let them fix it". Not to worry
screwing up the stock will be much quicker than sending it back.

Are you sure it's the mini-chassis that's crooked? Is it in a manners stock?
Ya, it's a T2a Gap. Elite Carbon Fiber yada yada. Pretty standard deal.

I've had a few actions and barrels in it and they all hug the left side. You can see that the epoxy between the Mini-Chassis and the stock is thicker on the right side towards the front. It looks like there is enough clearance to reglue it in a more centered orientation. Just need to get it out first.

If you are going to do that then you better order another one now for when you ruin the one you have trying to fix it. LOL Mini chassis do not come out.

Not a secret. Manners put up pics of them on their site.

Interesting, I had no idea. Thanks for sharing. To be fair, I’ve never looked because they solve a problem that don’t exist. Bed them, they will be much better in the end…plus, they add wasted weight.

Not a Manners dig, I have several and they are all good stocks.

Actually they work great at just being able to drop a barreled action in, torque it and shoot. No need to bed and you get the DBM set up. Just like any other chassis system but you have a stock feel. I have been using them over a decade and they never disappointed. Great accuracy and that little weight doesn't bother me for my use.

I have a mini chassis. It's one of my best shooting guns. You can still bed them if you want. It's really no different than having pillars. For a mag fed gun... It's the best of both worlds.

Not at all how I envisioned the setup. It’s almost as if it pivots on the screws/rivets, makes me wonder why they have the screws/rivets at all.
I think it's just extra reinforcement and they probably aren't tightened until the epoxie has set.

They're nice if you want to try a new action or have multiple Barreled Actions in different calibers and want to swap stuff around. They do add some weight, but that's not always a bad thing. Definitely not the best choice if you're building a single purpose ultra light rifle though.
