Remove and replacing a Sako Extractor on a Tikka 595

I have a new extractor and would like to replace the old one, (some ejection issues), can anyone give me a step by step, I don't want to bugger it up.

Thanks,

Tony

Get a little screwdriver (electronics/fine machine type) or a mechancis pick set and a gallon ziploc bag. Hold the bolt in a bench vise, put the bag over the bolt, use your little screwdriver and push the little detent pin down while gently tipping back/outward on the extractor. Takes a little finagaling, but you'll get it. Make sure you use the baggie or you'll be buying parts. The little detent pin will fly unless you capture it some how.

No, you wont bugger it up unless your a complete bonehead with absolutley no mechanical common sense.. Chances are you'll lose the pin or spring way before you ever bend or wreck anything..

I agree entirely with all that Rod has posted. Here's an additional small tip.

Even with the pin held back as far as it will go, the extractor itself can be a tricky little thing to get hold of, and to remove and re-insert. (especially the former) A magnet works well as a holding device, as long as the extractor is an easy fit. They usually are. Hope this helps.
