Remington Model 31 bolt disassembly

Didn't know if anyone here may be familiar with this old shotgun. I acquired a nice one cheap because the firing pin was broken. It cleaned up nice and I ordered the parts needed. The firing pin retaining pin is directional, small end, big end and after a soaking in Kroil, it still refuses to budge, even after an ad hoc jig so I could push the spring in. This thing goes together like a Rolex watch. Asking before I get a bigger hammer.

Keep soaking and working with it. I haven't had the opportunity to work on one of those but sooner or later it'll come loose. If you can get hold of Les Brooks, he'll know for sure.

sounds like a taper pin. If you have a hydraulic press, clamp it in a vise or make a jig and press on it, even leave pressure on it and go do something else. You just need it to move .0001' of an inch to release.
Also dont use anything with a point to drive the pin, that will expand the end. Use a cup or flat punch slightly smaller than the small end
