Remington 700 bolt question

I have an older Remington 700 hunting rifle, serial number 17XXXX so I'm guessing first or second year of production. It's currently wearing a Douglas barrel in 338-06 so no date code. Anyway since it's somewhere around 50 years old I thought a good bit of maintenance would be to replace the firing pin spring. To that end I bought a 28 lb Wolff Blitzschnell.

I have a bolt disassembly tool but the problem is I can't get the crosspin to budge. Does it only come out one way? Maybe I just need to let it soak in Liquid Wrench and hammer the snot out of it? Any tips or tricks?

Thanks in advance.

And when you put it back together, make sure the holes line up; they were not drilled on center and they may not line up.

Your 6 digit serial numbered receiver is far from 2nd year production.
4,5,6,7 digit serial numbered receivers prior to A pre-fix receivers in the early 70's.

The 3/32"(.093") striker cross pin is/was originally installed from RH side to LH side.

You'll probably have to use the main spring as the "slide hammer" to remove the firing pin shank from the striker.
F-pin tip into a soft piece of wood on bench top.
Compress mainspring.
Release mainspring for shroud to act as a "slide hammer".
Put hand over the end of shroud to prevent FLYING parts.

De-burr the cross pin hole w/ a half round needle file prior to re-assembly.

Parts should slip fit back together-No Hammers required except for the cross pin.

THIS!
Use a close fitting punch to check hole alignment, before you start pounding it back in.
