Remington 721 30-06 - How old?

This was Mike Walker's favorite deer rifle. It is a 257 Roberts. Said he had his choice of wood from the Remington wood bin.
I hope to make it out your way this fall for one of Josh's West Virginia University football games.

The 30 stamping is the factory promotion coding where Remington employees could purchase firearms at pennies on the dollar under the agreement that they had to keep the firearm for a designated period of time before re-sale.

Parts that don't match the 721 configuration that I notice-
1.Early staked 700 trigger housing pins.
2.Early 700 Wide flat bolt lock safety knob.
3.700 swept bolt handle.

A 2 piece sear should be present in the trigger group(aka 721-early 700).

Early 700 bolt lugs didn't have an anti bind slot in the lugs.

Does the hand etched serial number on the bolt body match the receiver serial number?
Is the extractor a 721/722 extractor or 700 riveted extractor?

A 700 bolt & trigger group in a 721 receiver.

Now we are making progress with the observations of Dans40x. The characteristics of the receiver # don't look like a 721-722 factory stamping to me. Dans40x, what is your opinion of that? Is it even a 721 receiver?

The bolt doesn't have any numbers on it. The lugs do not have the anti bind cut. Extractor looks to be a 700 type. Don't see any rivets on it.

Did any M721 have a magazine release and hinged floorplate as this rifle does? It looks more like a 700 receiver than a 721.

Is the LH side of the receiver stamped 721/725?

Observations from OP pics-
The serial number FONT numbers don't match/been molested.
700 BDL bottom metal installed-not 721 steel floorplate/trigger guard.
60's era 700 bolt body installed-not straight/round knob 721/722 bolt handle.
60's era 700 trigger group installed-not formed 721/722 trigger group/safety assy.

The bolt handle's WRIST area just above the knob should be round-not rectangle & the knob appears full profile-not conducive to early 700 handles/knobs.

The extractor Rivet will be @ the 6O'clock position w/ lugs horizontal.
Early(60's era)700 RH lugs did not have an anti bind slot.

Does the RH side receiver/tang cut for the 700 safety appear to have been milled or filed/hacked?

I am starting to get the feeling it is not very special :) THanks for all your time guys. I feel better using its parts to build another rifle. Wanted to make sure.

It has been our pleasure to analyze your rifle. Gives us old timers something to do and brings back old memories.
Thanks for posting the subject.
