I want to purchase a model 700 action to build tactical rifle. I see myself with 3 options however im not sure if i can do the first 2.
1. buy a remington 700 action brand new by itself with bolt then get in accurised by a gunsmith
2. buy a accurised remington 700 action straight from the custom remington shop
3. buy a good quality remington 700 rifle to salvage the action off it.

You should check the stiller and other web sites
You will find actions in the $700 range all set to go.

By the time you buy the bolt have it blueprinted, trued threads etc.
and pay the smith you can buy one all ready to go.
But if you want to do it yourself from scratch then go with the stock remington

Unless you already have a 700 actions, and never intend to sell it, you'll be better of with a custom Remington clone.. ie- Stiller ect..........

+1 stiller. by the time you figure in labor costs to true a remington receiver on top of what you paid for the receiver, you could have a precision built custom receiver for about the same price.

you might also want to look into pierce engineering, surgeon, and phoenix machining. they make fine receivers that fit the rem 700 profile
