Remington 700 extractor thoughts

Cold winter day thought. Just saw in another post the stiller drop ports used a Remington 700 extractor.
Depending on which style of extractor your 700 bolt had, could you rotate it in boltface, repin/attach it and with one of the score high single shot plates installed with a cut out make it into drop port? Anybody done this?
Just a winter day mind wondering question.

They can't just be rotated. A good bit of fairly difficult machining goes into the groove where the extractor resides. It's not just a smooth, round groove in there. It could be bushed and a sako extractor put in the bottom of the bolt though..and plug the ejector hole, or just remove it if it has one.

I like it! You might get a bolt from ptg and have them install whichever extractor you want. I think they could easily do a remington extractor where the hook is at the bottom but I'm reasonably sure it'd be a custom order thing and might take a while. I think they made the bolts for Stiller back then. That brings up the consideration of doing a coned bolt of some sort for feeding etc. If you go with a custom bolt, might as well do it like ya want it. If you can wait, a new bolt makes a lot of sense. You could sell your old one and recoup a big part of the cost.

I have the dimensions for the Rem extractor cuts somewhere. It was cut with a modified (narrowed) slot cutter. The dimensions and cuts are not the same for the riveted and slip in extractors.
