I bought a 7br Remington 700 barreled action from a guy. Worth the risk for me at the price. But found the brass wouldnt eject out the side of the action and would just drop onto the next round. Found the extractor broke and replaced it with a new one. Removed the barrel and installed a Remage barrel but still having the same issue. I have changed ejector springs and plunger as well. Looking at a few of my other Remington 700 bolts it looks like this one has been modified or altered. Maybe for a single shot style? Help me out guys.

A common problem with the short BR case is it popping off the extractor before the case clears the port. Try shortening the ejector spring.
The bolt has been messed with by someone. They turned the outside of the bolt nose, if they opened the inside too that could be the root cause of the problem. The fix then is a bushing and a sako or mini m-16 new extractor.

One possibility to look into is the bolt could be bottoming out on the barrel face. The bolt face should bottom out on the case head so the extractor can get a good purchase on the rim, that could affect ejection. The bolt modification is a common one done when blueprinting the 700.
I think that if you very slowly pull back the bolt on a fired 6BR, it will appear that the “step down” on the chamber with the short body and long, skinny neck allows the short travel of the plunger to fully extend, and bounce the shell back into the receiver via contact with the front of the neck that has not yet cleared the chamber.
By comparison, if a loaded 6BR round ejected perfectly (and in mine they do) because the extra length of the bullet reduces the angle enough that the plunger exerts force on the case head through the whole rearward movement, then nothing is really wrong, it’s just a typical BR issue.
If you pull the bolt back fast enough, you might overcome the problem, but you literally would need to beat the speed the ejector spring can move the shell. Walt’s comment above would slow the spring down and tend to give you a better chance. I just live with that; it happens across all bolts I’ve used.

Have you changed the ejector spring. That bolt has the appearance of one that has been "trued up" It was not uncommon to trim the spring down to reduce ejection force. This could be why the xc cases arent kicking out
I have extended the cut out section on the ejector for the retaining pin on short cartridges to let the ejector sit more "proud" or farther out in extended position. This keeps pressure on the fired case longer. Has worked well for me in the past .
The Br case is different enough from the variations like brx and dashers to eject differently because the BR has a shorter length from the case head to the shoulder.
On the br, the short case gets pushed against the the side of the receiver into the bolt raceway, it sometimes tilts sideways enough that the ejector no longer touches the case head and so there is no longer any ejector travel possible.
Longer cases keep the ejector pressed down until the case mouth clears the ejection port.
That i have done, the xc works better than 6bra did
