remington extractor conundrum

When the Sako equipped bolt is out of battery then it's held in by spring tension. When it's in battery in a properly fitted bbl then I think it's mechanically trapped and would have to break to escape.

And the "properly fitted bbl" is the standard reming
Having spoken with Jim Borden recently he is going to design a new extractor to get away from the Sako. Just food for thought.

Thinking about it, he may just be making a business decision to accommodate those who don't like Sako extractors and thus won't buy his actions. --Jerry

That bolt is toast. Part of the lip is gone. Look in the mag well or in the action or wherever you were when you had to force extraction.

Another lesson to learn from this is that the extractor in the bolt is NOT the proper tool for removing a case that is well and truly stuck.

Yep I learned that the hard way..Anyhow I went to the PTG website to take a look at bolt bodies and strangely they do not sell magnum (.550) bolt face bolts with the remington extractor slot the only options are M16 or Sako see here? Why would this be? I thought about buying a smaller bolt face and having it machined out to be a standard remington with lip but the remington extractor slot has a little bump in it (ie it is not fully concentric with the bolt head) it so it is not an easy job to machine one to factory specs. Also I live in New Zealand so it is not an easy job to get a bolt body sent out as if it costs more than $100 I have to get a permit and PTG bolt bodies start at $105.00.....
