Look
When farmers/ranchers, in Western Kansas, called me, and needed thinning of the Whiley population, I used my VLS 22-250 for moderate range, 25-06 custom for longer ranges, and a Rem 1100 MAG shotgun (close range) pointing down wind for "incoming" following vixen urine as a cover scent!!! Most were taken with the 22-250 over a mutilated calf carcassll Idaho-Lefty is correct in using the 55 and 60grain projos in the 1:14 twist Remington varmint rifles!!! They are awesome on rolling coyotes!!! I like the VLS(Gen 2 stock) over the BDL VS because of the added weight and forward shift of the balance of the 2 rifles and added quality of the E series actions!! Yes, I have had the 22-250 in the BLD VS, the VLS, and VS (synthetic)!!! I'll take the VLS any day!!! 2nd choice would be the CLASSIC BDL VS which is awesome in it's own way!!! The straight up VS (POS cheap synthetic noodle rigidity stock) would be my last choice!! Remington action quality also improved during the VLS/VS (synthetic) era (E series serial number prefix) after the BDL VS was dropped in the Remington varmint/target lineup!!!!
If I would have kept the E series VS (synthetic), it would have been restocked, and epoxy bedded, with a heavier custom laminated target and make it a shooter and not worry about a collector!!! After all, you can always set the barreled action back in the synthetic stock for selling!!!!
