I am installing a Criterion Remage barrel on a Remington 700 action using one of Northland's recoil lugs and barrel "nut".
I have a Wheeler action wrench that clamps around the action and indexes on the front mounting hole.
The Northland recoil lug comes with a pin on it where you can machine the action for the 3/16" pin to hold the lug in exactly the correct place during assembly.
If I unscrew the pin does anyone have a trick to hold that lug centered during tightening where I don't have to have the action machined?
The lug is tapered and is way smaller than the cutout in the action wrench.
