Reloading room floor.

I am making a new reloading room in an extra garage. Several people on here mentioned sealing the floor. Any preference on color, is white better than gray for example if you are looking for a lost primer or for lighting? Is one sealant brand/type preferred for reloading rooms? Thanks in advance.

Not to change the subject but I notice most people stand at their bench to handload. I have always sat in an armless swivel chair on wheels as I handload. I find it helps with my back. Standing for long periods is a back killer for me and I cant imagine standing for long periods.

When I had a concrete floor I acid stained it and sealed it. You dont HAVE to do anything. Id be worried more about the humidity control if its not air conditioned because everything will rust if not. At least where I am.

I sit in a roller chair. I learned that a roller chair will pop a live primer on the floor! Ring your ears!

I sealed my concrete floor with:

Rust-Oleum 251283 Concrete Saver 5500 System Acrylic Dust Proofer Floor Sealer, 5-Gallon, Clear

I will likely get a stall mat to go in front of my benches, so when I drop a piece of brass it doesn't dent up the neck. It's also easier on the back when standing for long periods of time.

I laid down horse stall mats on my floor. I was tired of case mouths getting dinged, loaded rounds getting meplats crushed/bullets tweaked when things fell to the floor. The final straw was a couple of Wilson seater stems damaged when they hit the concrete floor while loading the night before matches. After placing the horse stall mats all is well. In addition it is much more comfortable to stand on. I bought mine from Tractor Supply sold by the linear foot.

SAME^^

Thanks all for the info. I plan to use mats as well but thought I should seal the floor. As for humidity I have a mini split being installed to keep it cool ( hot here in the summer) and a dehumidifier as well. I was originally wondering if small parts would be easier to see on white paint but likely it would not matter with mats on top.

I found some of the interlocking pads for under exercising equipment, softer than the livestock mats and solid textured surface. I use a bar stool, much like a bike seat in a boat for casting.

When building a bench I leave room for my legs because I set in a chair. If you drop something sweep the floor it will be in the pile, don't vacume it . ;]
