Reloading Books

"Cartridges of the World" and "Wildcat Cartridges" are the standards that catalog many historic wildcat cartridges. But these books are difficult to find in print and are costly. We lost a lot of information when the Saubier website went offline.

There is another site that provides a brief overview of many cartridges and schematics for each. Unfortunately, this doesn’t include any load data, but is nice for comparing different cartridges.

CotW new $26.89 and used good $8.58 both including shipping.

And a tougher nut, not knowing which author but Searching for books where Author is "Zeglin, Fred", Title is "Reloader's Handbook of Wildcat Cartridge Design" and Language is English $39.49

People still use books? I keep a hornady manual handy for quick reference or to look up trim length etc. There is so much free online though I can't justify the price of a book.
Yes!…. I have dozens upon dozens of them! And I’m still purchasing them as I find them! Power goes out…. I have data, internet goes down I have data….. WWlll starts and the entire world goes to shit!… I have data!…

Wouldn’t that be great?!

With the new radar chronographs, shooters are now able to get information that use to only be available from ammo manufacturers. I wouldn't be surprised if a user pressure monitor is not the next gadget put in handloader's hands.

BTW: When I was a teenager (60 yrs ago), I actually tried to build a ballistic pendulum!! LOL
You already have one,…. Or at least as a reloader you should have one!…. It’s called a micrometer. been used for reading pressure for many decades

Good to know! Please share what PSI correlates for each .001” of web expansion. No need to get in the weeds with individual cartridges or different brands and lots of brass. Thanks!

Now you've got my Okie inventor brain reeling.
I'm thinking of a 1/8" strip of black 6 mil plastic in the chamber along side the cartridge. After discharge, measure the thickness, and see what difference correlates to various pressure rounds.
"jd Industries, Chamber Pressure Test Kit" ;)

Tommie,
I really don’t care if it’s 23000 65000 or 96957.5 psi but .001 is more than what you want to see at the web.

P.S
By how you wrote your reply I really feel you already knew the answer ;)

I took a look in my bookshelf and my key books are:

Wolfe Publishing “Wildcat Cartridges Volume I”
Wolfe Publishing “Wildcat Cartridges Volume II”
note: Volume II is significantly larger with close to 10x number of pages as compared to Volume I.

Fred Zeglin “Wildcat Cartridges - The Reloader’s Guide to Wildcat Cartridge Design”
note: the Title on Book’s Cover and Spine only state “Wildcat Cartridges”, However, the Title Page (inside the book) includes the full Title and Subtitle as stated above.

Todd Kindler “The Sensational Seventeens”
Todd Kindler “The Terrific Twenties”
