RELOADER 25 Powder

Johnny, I have not had any trouble with ignition, my 270 WSM with 68.0 Rl25 goes bang every time . A friend that shoots a Lazzeroni .300 Long Mag has had hang fires with CCI BR primers he sent 4000 back . It plays hell with your groups shooting. I told him to shot the Federal 215 Magnum Primer and he has not had any more hang fires and his accuracy is very good. Standard primers for standard rounds and magnum for your overbore mags. and wild cats. I have not had any trouble with lots with RL25 in any of my rifles,I really like it. In fact I just ordered more. It really likes the 142 SMK in 6.5x284, real small clusters, I use 54.0 grains.

Baron, the Wolf Brand magnum primers are not a true magnum primer it's just the cups are harder than the normal primers are... no difference in the flame at all between the 2 of them.....

I went with 68.5gr R25 for 168gr SMK in 7mm Mag. My velocity was ~2700fps, about 200-300fps below what I was estimating. I like R22 for 7mm Mag better.

I had the exact same results with RL-25 with the same bullet in my 7mm Rem. Mag. Well below what I expected. I'm moving to RL-22 as well.

I've found it to be the go to powder for 250 gr Scenars in a .338 RUM, and bought a pretty fair quantity of one lot number.

With pretty much any powder, it's a good idea to drop back charges and test over a chrono when changing lot numbers of powder if you are loading towards max.

I am not as experienced a reloader as many here, but I always thought that the slower powders worked best in longer barrels (28" or more) as a rule. Am I all wet?

That,s right , the longer barrels burn the slow powders better than short tubes. 24" and up will improve your burn time and faster speeds. Retumbo,RL25 and Mag Pro are favorite slow burners.

I tried it in my 300wm, 26" hart, and 280AI 26" hart, neither gave the velocity or accurcy of h4831, imr 4831 or h4350, with Sierra sbt/ smk/ nosler bt/ nosler partition.

i still have 3# i would liketo get rid of

Bob

That would make sense base upon what I was always told about the slower burning powders. I was always told that they come into their own if you are shooting barrels of 28" or more in length to take advantage of the powders properties.

It seems that RL25 has had problems with mostly 7Mags., But with the 6mm x 284,6.5 x284, 270 win, it works wonders. My Oehler Chronograph tells me how good it is. The ES and SD are very small. And velocity and accuracy is out standing.

I use it in 25/06(100 & 117g Bullets) and 7 Rem Mag(154g).

Fed 215's in 25/06 and Win Magnum produced best accuracy in 7 Mag.
