Relief cut for barrel removal

I was given 3-1917 Enfields, and a P-14 Enfield, gratis. All 4 had sewer pipes for barrels. Made up my epoxy lined Aluminum blocks, and proceeded to pull the first one. Plenty of rosin; blocks did not slip, but wouldn't budge! Put on a 3 foot or so pipe on the wrench, and my goodness, what a screech! Used the parting off trick for the other three, no problem; walked right off.
 
I’ve never used the parting tool, but if there was one to use it on it would certainly be the Howa’s. I’ve done dozens of Howa bbl’s and one thing they DO have going for them is it’s easy to get a good hold on the action with the Brownells wrench and the bottom flat of the action. I use either a 2.5’ brass bar (1.25” square) or a 3lb aluminum mallet. One good fast hit with either of those on the Brownells handle and they break loose every time.
 
Try some "Mouse Milk"...
Have not heard anyone else mention "Mouse Milk" since I did my time in Flight School in "Mechanics for Pilots" basickly helping the A&P's and writing up reports on everything we did and why! Unlike most pilots since I was an ASE Certified Mechanic prior to college I got to do a lot of things other pilots would never be allowed to do.

Mouse Milk was what the head A&P swore buy prior to that I had only used things like PB Blaster, Kroil, ATF and Turpentine etc....Never heard anyone else since then mention it other than myself.

My neighbor is an if it flies I can fix it mechanic.
