Yep, works well.Kiwi clear polish
How’s about Imperial sizing wax, since it’s probably in your drawer already. Kiwi shoe polish works. There are other floor waxes available. On this note, what's the best release agent since the SC Johnson Paste wax is gone?
I've been contemplating attempting bedding myself, The only thing I'm a bit scared of is sticking the action into the stock.
I’m definitely laughing “with” and not at . The school of hard knocks teaches some hard and expensive lessons sometimes.I relish my experiences such as this so that I might add them to my bank vault of F ...ups .
Sometimes, the lug/bedding is so tight that a vacuum forms at the base of the lug!!! Had 2 bedding jobs that were that way!! A simple fix to breaking the vacuum is to make an air vent inside the lug cavity!! Cut a very fine vent groove up on the front side of the lug cavity, cut very fine (shallow) "X" shaped relieve grooves in the bottom of the lug cavity, and connect the "X" intersection with the vertical groove vent using a DREMEL needle mill/rotary cutter or Sheetrock plunge rotary cutter bit!!! Or, small radius cut all four corners!!! "X" vent cutting is the safest method!!! Less chance of a run away gouge!!! The action comes out of the stock much smoother and the fit and function integrity does not change!!!Many people underestimate just how close fitting a good bedding job it. Lots of clearance is required to grab a barrel and lift the gun out. When done right that thing must come out straight up or it'll feel like its locked in there.
It may just need persuasion and a little cold to free it up enough. But a good mallet and a beer usually fixes everything. Your milage may vary.
That's all I use these days.I like the brownells spray stuff.
As far as I know, it's still available. I searched the net (not google) and found at Walmart @ $8 /16 oz. can. Amazon has but price is outrageous. It's all I have ever used for bedding release since I still have a 2# can that my dad bought probably 60 years ago. It's what he waxed his cars with. I also use it to wax the riding portions of stocks on bench rifles. On this note, what's the best release agent since the SC Johnson Paste wax is gone?

I had no idea this was discontinued. I only ever used it to coat my table saw. Briwax is a similar product that probably works just as well, if not better. As far as I know, it's still available. maybe just not available in Canada, I don't turn up any results. I found a different brand of Paste Wax that looks like it will work, I'll test it on some other stuff firstAs far as I know, it's still available.
