Redding T7 question

Ok, been reloading with the T7 for about 8 months now. All of a sudden with .223's the primers are flying out of the front cut instead of going into the collection tube. Not all the time but more often than ever before.

Question: I have seen plastic inserts from mods that fit into that slot to force the primers down the interior of the shaft. Can anyone point me at someone or someplace that has or makes these mods? Going nuts picking them up after decapping.

I do not have info on the plastic inserts you mention, but I have had it get jammed up when I did not pay attention to the tube filling up. It took me a while to get all the debris cleaned out of the ram to get them to flow easily again. might want to run a pipe cleaner lightly through the ram and see if that helps. I had to take mine off the mount and really get in there and get the gunk out!!!

I'll give that a try. Thanks. The item I'm looking for was a sliver of plastic that pressed into the slot that forced the primers through the shaft.

I can't help with the plastic mod, but I'd be interested in where it might be from. What I can say is that with 223, you'll find both crimped and staked primers; for example, LC tends to go either way -- either uniformly crimped, or staked with 4 wide stake marks around the primer.

I find that with non-crimped or with uniformly crimped primers, they'll tend to fall into the collection tube, but the staked ones have a tendency to fly out the front on my T7. I'm not sure why this is, but that seems to be the pattern on mine, anyway.

run a bit of scotchbrite over the tip of your depriming pin. Sometimes the primer sticks to it, then pops loose on the upstroke, misses and "shoots out" instead of going down the tube.

It'd be nice if someone made a plastic insert to fit in the groove, older rock chuckers could benefit too, especially if the priming feature is not used.
