Just go to some matches and see what they are using. A handheld wind indicator at the bench is not much help. It will tell you the speed at that second. You will need to be holding it in your hand to be able to turn it into the wind. What happens in the time you put it down and get back on the gun and fire. If it doesn't change in that amount of time, what about down range? If you go to a real match you won't find one of your wind meters.
If you have confidence in one by all means use it.

I don't use a wind meter or wind vane. Just don't have a need for either of them. I'm sticking with my ribbons and that's my story.
