Does that store have that in 308?
Dang Good price!
Sorry it doesn't look like they do, it is a "Fleet Farm" store. A chain in Wi. not sure if you would have that where you are at. I was on their website last night looking at turkey calls and they had the rifle on a "close out" was the last one and at a location that is close to me. It is a pretty good price plus being able to pick it up myself and avoid shipping and transfer fees.

After reading all of the above and checking around I have decided on the Tikka T3X Lite with the synthetic stock. The best price I found was at a Fleet Farm not far from me for $650. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts on this, it really did help me out, this is a great site and members like you guys are a big part of what makes it great! Thanks again

Great video, thanks
Enjoy, you made a solid choice!

along the tikka line is there a particular model that would be recommended? I would use this rifle for the most part deer and when I can draw a tag for bear
Tikka T-3X SS,.. in .270 Win. W/ 130 gr. Bullets, 7mm-08 w/ 140-145 gr's, or My Fav,.. 6.5 Creed w/ either, 130 gr. or, the 143 gr. ! I've Had 4 of them, Just ADD, a No Drill Cheek Riser and a LimbSaver Recoil Pad and adjust the Trigger if, Necessary ( I Highly Recommend getting a 22 to 24 inch Barrel and NOTHING Shorter )
AND as Noted Above,.. Clean the Barrel, "Well" !

gosh, I would go to gunsinternational and buy a 690 or 695, tikka 30-06. they are 25 yr old models and built hell for stout. nicer wood and finish than current. lots of low mileage tikka rifles like this in used market. Or maybe a 590, 595 in 308. 308 would do it if you are open to something other than a '06.

Forest Co WI, just pick a rifle that’s pleasant/light/handy to carry…won’t be shooting it much. For all around deer in WI I’ve recently been using a Browning MK3 DBM in 308. Fantastic woods rifles/running game gun. Super soft recoiling and more than accurate for 200 yard or better if needed shots.

While Savage does have some accurate bolt guns I’m aware of their barrel issues now. As Forum Boss accurately indicated post #4.
I know about their issue because I bought a Mdl 10/110 Storm Lightweight. Nice features,,,,,, barrel sucked. It sure liked copper. Went back to Savage . Rebarreled.
New one much better……in appearance ( bore scoped ) . Time will tell.
Another thing about Savage rifles. I’ve noticed they overwhelm other brands for being for sell online. Price point? Dissatisfied? Or ?
Not so for Tikka.
My vote is for Tikka. ( have 6.5 SeeMore T3X Super light and a 7-08 T3X Light)
Just say’n.

As much as I hated to I finally had to retire my 30-06 Remington 740 Woodsmaster , I am looking at the Savage 110 Trail hunter model 58038. Anyone have an opinion on this rifle or another out of the box bolt that that will shoot well with factory ammmo? Having not had to look for one for over 50 years I am out of touch on this subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Tikka
