A friend needs a Remington bolt handle reattached and timed to the action. Who is best recommended for this.?
Please do, and post a lot of pics.I might just do it myself. It’s for Geramo, he said he would be fine with it bolted on rather than sil brazed. I have bolted on several Farley handles with goos success.
Dave, You do that right??Last I heard Dan was offsite working. I guess he hasn't returned.
Butch Lambert stayed in touch with him but Butch is laid up after emergency neck surgery.
Neck surgery?Dave, You do that right??

Here is how I did it.

My butt would have been puckered worried about the epoxy releasing from the drilling heat. Good job!View attachment 1709681Here is how I did it.
I aligned the bolt on the action with the cocking piece dead center on the helix cocking path in the bolt body. I locked it in place against the action body abutments.
Using 5000 psi LocTite epoxy, I then attached the handle in place with it against the bolt handle stop and with a .010 shim between the extraction ramp and the action body, insuring maximum primary extraction.
I then put the bolt in my Mill and drilled and tapped two 8-40 screws to secure the handle.
The epoxy held it in place just fine during the drilling and tapping.
