REASON FOR SHORTAGES IN GUNS AND SUPPLIES FOR RELOADING

As I type, I am waiting for return call from Timney. Going on hour number 2. Was not even thinking about the shortage situation, was aware just didn't think that the after market triggers would be affected. I am a veteran of these shortages and in my old age thought I had the bases covered. Was going to wait for winter, but the hot, humid day is keeping in doors. Sadly have reached a point where my gun project list is pretty much complete. In my old age have taken up de-loading. Self imposed limit of 50 loaded rounds per rifle. Just doing my part to ease the load on my adult sons and grand children.

If your friends own firearms and vote democrat, why? Joe wants your guns, don't think his gun czar won't take the double barrel that Joe thinks is all you need. The Marxist supporting Joe want your property.
It will be pretty easy to find some idiot to go knock on a door and demand your Daddy's old shotgun.... It will be alot harder to find a second and third... As a friend once said , if they can't take bagdad in 18 years what makes you think they can take Houston TX... I don't know about up North but in the South us rednecks can take care of ourselves....I think the world has forgotten how much damage a truck load of drunken rednecks can do...

Now it is seen as a career by all involved. But an even bigger danger is the buracracy known as "within the beltway."

It is a license to rape and steal. Every person in the US it seems doesn't realize that the original governing system was set up for us citizens to stop things, or as Barney said "Nip it, Nip it in the bud". But every citizen now accepts that we must submit. We stomp our feet, and talk, but that's about all. We submit, accept, and say we'll change it in the next election. How has that worked out?

Think Epstein, New York, Chicago, antifa, blm, looting, killing. Can't anyone sense the evil that is taking the world over? It is truly frightening.

That’s Why I’m “prepping” to the Gills !
I have No miss conception that I alone can win, But I believe that there are a percentage of us who will Fight with everything we have to preserve what we know is Connstitionally and Morally Right. - I Refuse to “live on my knees” to a Marxist, Communist, Socialist DumbacRat run society.

Rant Over

Is a flint lock in your future?

No, Definitely Not. - Not that I have Anything against “a flint lock”.

- But the similarity of today’s pragmatic situation is somewhat similarly aligned with what confronted our Founding Fathers who used the flint lock.

All The Best, - R

I had no idea primers are in short supply, good thin i have about 15k to 18,000 . All stored properly according to fire stds . Even for 50 bmg .
I ve been so busy repairing electrical damage done by a lightning strike .
Took out the dryer , 3 dvr 8 channel security systems , modem , ac for the small machine shop and a ac in a gu room . The list continues.
Sorry but i wont be selling any .

You can always disassemble the rounds and use the primers for something else.

Nah! To much work for a fun gun. I saw it on the sale board. It was a good deal and came with dies and enough brass to play with but I wanted a “stash” of ammo for...........well, you know.......;) I have enough primers on hand to get by this shortage. I used to buy bricks of 223 for $300. At this time, I thought $350 for a brick wasn’t too bad, even for steel cased. The bright side is I don’t have to chase brass!!:D

What frustrates me to hear as a reloader and shooter, no one buys anything until it's a panic. Certain cartridges don't get made. Primers, .22LR's, and again certain cartridges sell out because no one buys on the regular. Hoarders/profiteers love this as they can turn this stuff for a profit. It wouldn't be that way if people bought what they needed ahead of time. AND USED IT! You don't have to go all out on the range, just remain proficient. That would give manufacturers a much better idea of what would get used. Therefore, what they need to resupply the system with, and capacity to do so.

Instead, people buy at the last minute, then complain about the shortages.

Just-in-time delivery and lean logistics are a big part of this. There’s simply very little buffer. If the shipment with RL26 on it should sink, we’ll be out for a year or more. I’m certain that the big companies have done the math and it’s simply more profitable to let shortages occur.

This is because if they crank out ammo for their own massive stockpile, it’s all a massive cost increase until some demand spike that may or may not recoup

Well. When demand increases but it looks like it is a short term increase, most companies will try to increase supply with their existing plants/facilities. They do this by adding temporary workers and increasing the number of shifts per week. They may buy additional equipment that will be paid back in months - i.e., well before the short term increase in demand would subside.
