RE10X Anyone??

I dont hear many folks talk about RE10X much. I am thinking about trying some in my 12 twist 22BR with something like a 52-64gr match bullet. How do you think it should work? What would be the preferred powder,if there is any certain powder) for 22cal chambering for bench work? Lee

My little 22br pistol @ 20' loves AA-2015 and the 40 grain Ballistic Tips.
Next up for the heavier bullets was AA-2460......

I use RE10x in my 204Rs and my 20VT. Very accurate but a little on the dirty side. I can live with the extra cleaning.

10-X is my go to powder for my 6BR and 30BR.
My 30BR is a fast twist barrel and I load 10X for all of it- the 125 varmint/Target loads through to my 155 long range and the Lapua 185 loads. They all work a treat with 10-X

and is starting to show good figures and accuracy in the 223 in working on ATM.

I tried R10X in .223 Remington. It doesn't fill the case much, as 21-24gr covers most of the bullets. It sits on shelf, I went with AA 2230 and Benchmark instead.

Alliant ReLoder 10x is the powder of my choice for top velocity in my 1-in-12' twist 22" barrel with 36 grain Barnes Varmint Grenades through 60 grain Nosler Partitions. Both accurate and powerful, learning the most viable grain weights is paramount to deadly accuracy. I consider this the very BEST .223 Remington caliber powder available today. Slightly exceeding the prowess of RamShot Xterminator by a smidge, 10x is nearly in a class of its own regarding .223 ultimate firepower. Alliant has outdone itself with this powder of .223 perfection. cliffy

Rel 10X was my go to powder for 39 gr. Sierras in my Savage 12VLP until I ran out of the first pound I bought. I purchased another pound that was a different lot number and could not find the sweet spot again. I switched to H4895 and haven't looked back.

I know several other .204 shooters who are still getting fabulous results using Rel 10X

Alliant RL-10x is superior with 35-55 bullets, yet once approaching 60 grain bullets, I've changed my mind, powderwise, due to accuracy flaws. Alliant RL-15 might be a better choice for deer-oriented fare regarding 60 grain Nosler Partition bullets. Not sure yet, but currently experimenting with same. Results will come as soon as I'm sure. H4895 may supplant RL-15 in .223 Remington 60 grain loads, but that assumption is still months away with winter coming on FAST in Michigan. To date RamShot X-Terminator, RL-10x, and RL-15 are my 55 to 60 grain bullet chaser choices. Who knows what I may learn next spring. Cliffy

I use RE10x in my 17MachIV and it works great. I shoot 30gr bullets about 100fps faster than H4198 with better accuracy. Don't know how it work in your 22br, guess you could give it a try.

I didn't see R10x in the Lyman 49th book except in the 17 calibers and 204 Ruger.

The R10x loads I had left a lot of room in the case for .223. The powder is dense.

R15 covers IMR 4320, 4064, Varget territory in a lot of territories with higher velocity and lower pressure.

24.2 grains of Alliant RL-10x regarding .223 Remington loads leave the correct amount of space to seat a 55 grain Berger Match bullet to a C.O.L. of 2.250": not too loose; not too tight; just RIGHT. 26.0 grains of RL-10x gives a 36 grain Barnes Varmint Grenade bullet a full feeling with no powder compression at 2.250" C.O.L. yielding 3900 plus fps in a 22" barrel: just my chronograph's findings at 75 degrees. I'll have to retry with the 36gr VG's. My best with those were .75 or so with AA2230. Velocity was certainly no disappointment though!

Lee: Have tried several different powders in my 1-12 Shilen 22BR, and always return to H322. Favored bullet is the 53 gr. Sierra hpbt #1400 seated to touch, Federal 205's. .251" tight,fitted neck, Lapua brass.
