Re-Chamber .243 Win to 6BR Q -- How much set-back?

I have a friend with a Rem 700 VLS in .243 Winchester. I've almost convinced him to re-chamber it in 6BR. He wants to keep the 26" factory 9-twist tube because it shoots pretty good. How much length will he loose if it is re-chambered for 6mm BR Norma?

What's a typical price for this job?

You would have to remove enough thread to rechamber and clean up the existing chamber. If this is a factory barrel your going to be limited to chamber swell area. You have to keep so much steel around the chamber area to remain safe,dont remember the math but I can find it if you need it). Knowing what one has to start with would be good, meaning factory barrel or custom

You would lose approximately 7/8". You would want to cut off enough to cut a new neck with the 6 BR reamer. Cut off threads, re-thread, chamber and crown $175.00.
