SAKO 75 .243 Varmint - re-chamber or re-barrel?

Hello Guys,
Ok you win I'm gonna build a 6BR, I was going to have my Nesika custom 6PPC re-chambered but really wanted a repeater,I have owned a 6PPC SAKO 75 and it fed great) and have thought about a TIKKA 595 or a SAKO L591 action but after reading Fabian Müller's article on his SAKO 75 I have the way forward, in fact the answer has been sitting in my safe all along - a SAKO 75 stainless varmint in .243, it shoots great. Fabian Müller is getting 3100 fps with an 87 Vmax which is my bullet of choice in the .243 and I am only getting another 60 fps but burning 46 grains of N160 to do it! I'm convinced about the 6BR.

Now for the question, has anyone had any luck re-chambering a factory .243 to a 6BR or do I go to the considerable expense of a custom barrel? The .243 shoots great so the barrel is fine and has had only 500 rounds through it.

The Mcmillan stock and single set trigger are already on order.

Thanks.

Steve.

to rechamber 243 WIN to 6 BR you need to have enought cyslinder part barrel front of the barrel shoulder to recut the barrel as

2 inch, 243 win rought lenght ) - 1 inch, 6 BR body rought lenght )so 1 inch that to be sure to recut a neck in the barrel and :
doesn t get compound throat / neck because 6 Norma /BR is 0.271 and 243 WIN is 0.277/0.275
get a big shoulder enought to get enought surface contact on receiver

if you pay labor cost at good price and if your barrel is in great shape that can be a good option but purchase a PPC as BR barrel from classified can be a better way to get good quality barrel and stiff barrel

most receiver as SAKO/RUGER/Win are in 1 inch per 16 th so most BR barrel can rethread to 1 in 16

any Sako receiver must be reface square to get minimum 1.15 fresh shoulder without factory barrel crushing mark

good shooting
