Re Barrel

I need to re-barrel my Savage Model 10 (308). I am going to use a Shilen 4 groove ratchet barrel blank 1-10 twist. My question is there a reamer that would be more specific for bench rest and long range target shooting than other types. I would like to shoot 100 to 1000 yards. Any ideas on which reamer over another is appreciated.

Are you planning to use a magazine or planning to single feed using some longer bullets?

That would probably depend on which bullet you were planning on using.
Would help determine the freebore you need.

I have some 175 Nosler RDF's but 168's will be used as well.

first off a mag fed savage action is not the ideal action to set 1000 yard goals with.
the savage single shot actions are pretty good for a factory action.

Single shot from 100 to 300 yards and 1000 yards for milk jug challenge and other long range targets (when a mag could be used).

realistically yo uneed a minspec 308 chamber, with a turned neck at 12-14 thou and then a throat based on the bullet you plan on using.

I already have the Model 12 action - just need a good chamber for good groups.

might i suggest that since it is a 308..you switch to 6bra much better for both, the problem is the twist and bullet weight for 100/300 is not the same for 1000.....true of the 308 also

my 308 short range br rifle is 1/15, my long range is 1/10

i have a 308 win savage single shot with a lilja mk13 bbl chambered with a palma 95 reamer.
this is a 300 yard target
185's...just over 1/2"

I have had good performance from the old M852 match reamer. It is optimised for the 168gr bullets but has shot 155 and 175 bullets equally well.
