New rifle soon-help

Don't know why, but I'm building a 338 RUM. I have a new 700 receiver and bolt, 28" Shilen 4 groove ratchet in 10 twist and Shilen hunting trigger. 26" barrel finish length? I need to order dies and I have Retumbo, VV170, and RL25. I have 100 Nosler Accubond 265 grain LR bullets to start with. It will be a hunting rifle. Any ideas on this?

Thanks, I know that I will need a good one. I have 2 buddies that are building one at the same time. One has a hog hunting place with a bench set up at 800 yards to a corn feeder. He has been using a 300RUM with his big Schmidt and Bender scope. He plans on clearing a little more property to shoot it at 1000 yards.
I'll probably shoot quail with mine.
Comments on the ADG brass.

You don't hear of many new 338 RUM's being built it seems most go 338 Edge AKA 338-300 RUM instead.

Have you given any thought to a 338 Edge instead of the 338 RUM?

We talked about it, but figured if we sold them, the Rum would be easiest to peddle. I already have a 338 RUM reamer.
Thanks

VihtaVouri doesn't even list the 338 RUM in their online 2020 load data.
Shows the 338 LM.
In which the 250gr, & 280gr bullets with VV170 don't have the velocities of VV565, or VV570.

You may want to try RL33. Was specifically made for those big cased 338 magnums.

Berger 338 hunting LR/BT RL33. Tim North convinced me to try win magnum rifle primers instead of the federal match i was using . he was right.

Awesome cartridge! You'll have fun. I took one of mine, cut it down to 16.5" and threw a 338 Thunderbeast Ultra suppressor on it. 26" long and handy as heck. Shoots the 250 Bergers exceptionally well.

The winters seem to be getting colder as I get older. I just might take a long drive someday and stop in to say hi. Better yet, I could pick you up and we could go watch Katie shoot a match somewhere.

I would love nothing better. Going to a match to watch one of the best shooters in the World and watch her shoot with her Dad.

I'm at the beginning of a 338 Edge build... got the action (700), but no barrel or stock yet.

What length are you planning? I'm thinking 28", just want enough to get a full burn.

I'm in no hurry cause I can't get magnum primers or powders anyway...
