Ok I have tried the straw trick and it was a McDonald's straw too. My issue was it would work its way out. Now how are you guys attaching it, glueing or just putting it in, do you leave it flush with the metal tube or hang out a little. Any help would be great. Thanks

I have mine sticking out about a 1/8" never had an issue with it working its way out though. Check it to make sure you don't have any burrs that are catching the grooves in the tube and forcing it out. That's' the only thing I can think of to cause it to work its way out.

Ok is your metal tube threaded on the end? Because mine is.

You might try using a longer straw...mine sticks out about 1/16" and extends back in to the hopper to adjust the size of the feed port.

I have one crown shaped with 7 pointy ends (1/4 in long) sticking out about 1/4 in. it goes in almost 1/2 in. Works great. Let the power cord hang in a big u shape do not bind it with a twist tie. I also use a battery back up to stabilize the power going into the unit. Like you use for computers, not just a surge protector. Also let it worm up for at least one hour before using.

I tried the straw insert thing for a while, but then I found the metal inserts sold on this forum by MDM. The metal inserts reduce the inner diameter of the tube more than the straw and increase the accuracy. Highly suggest the metal inserts. Here's the thread MDM uses to sell his inserts:

I flared one end of the straw by pushing a pen of slightly larger diameter into it, then you insert the flared end of straw into chargemater tube first.
Or do it the Eric Cortina way, cut a 6br case 1/4" down from the shoulder, wrap enough tape around the end of the chargemaster tube for the br case to slip on snug.. Have a look on his YouTube channel.

I think all chargemasters have the inner threads. I just use a straw that fits fairly snug and slip it all the way in until it stops, then trim the end so that about a 1/4" extends out. I then cut a small V notch in the straw that is inside the metal tube to act as a pick up. If it feeds too slow, you can either cut a larger V notch or move the straw outward slightly to tune for different powders. This has worked for me for yrs, but am currently waiting for Adam's set up.

If I understand the original point in your question....your straw is loose and vibrates out? Take a small piece of scotch tape and wrap it around the straw. Insert to check fit tightness. If still loose wrap it twice or until you have a tight fit. Insert with 1/4 inch extending out. You can cut grooves and such as others have advised. Experiment to you get what you like......McD's straws aren't that expensive
Lastly look for the thread with the programming speed changes. That is also a big help in getting more consistent throws as well as increasing the speed

I use a straw from QT, it fits better. I make it full length, and cut out the hole for the powder with an xacto knife, and cut about 7 or 8 teeth on the end sticking out.

Here's a picture of the metal insert on my Chargemaster that MDM manufactures and sells here online. As shoot4fun and I mentioned within this thread, it really is a fabulous option to reduce the diameter of the tube and increase accuracy.

The staws gotta be at least 4 inches long.. i ran them on two units for a while no issues.

The metal inserts my be worth it though..

I use the McDonald's straw. As above cut to at least four inches. If longer is desired, you can go up the the slot on the powder end under the silo and out a quarter to a half inch. Do not pinch the dispensing end. It should work perfectly. If it still does not work to your satisfaction, spring for the bushing.
