Range time at Worlds?

@ScottyB,,,,For the guys that are just shooting the individual portion of worlds, will there be a opportunity to get some rounds down range before the matches start?

That would be the rapidly approaching FCWC, which Scott Bissett aka @ScottyB is the match director for...

...and for the OP, that's what the squadded practice on Monday before the DRCA FCNC is for, or if you prefer, that's what the DCRA FCNC is for. If you're shooting the FCWC individuals only, you might be in a pickle.

Which World are you referring to? ..... and for what shooting venue/discipline?
Donovan,
Unfortunately we all live in our own little worlds and forget many times there are other people shooting other disciplines. It would help a lot if posters stated what discipline they are shooting before they ask a question. I see this time and time again on this and other forums and often go to the person’s previous posts to figure out what he/she referring to.

Norm, I am sure Scott will reply to your message, but I believe you will get a very short blow off period at the beginning of each day. No Targets up.

BTW, FCWC = F- Class World Championships. DCRA = Dominion of Canada Rifle Association. FCNC = F-Class National Championships.
Shoot small (groups) and large scores:)

I can see where being a little more specific about the discipline being shot would be more helpful. My bad,,certainly didn't mean to ruffle any feathers.:(

Honestly I didn't even know what "worlds" was technically called (FCWC-Thanks for that Mr.Bartholome) you know how us newbies can be,,,,what I do know is I'm entered up and plan on showing up and shooting my rifle. :D

Thanks for the info gentlemen. Looks like a I need a good 700m zero to start.

If you can find 700, 800 & 900 meters to get zeroes at, that's great. Otherwise, take your existing 800, 900 & 1000yd zeroes, spend some quality time with a ballistics calculator and extrapolate - it should be pretty close. You might not be converting those first sighters at each yard line, but that's not the end of the world.

Norm,
Monte is 100% on his suggestion on getting close. If all else fails ask someone you trust who shoots the same bullet you use, at the same velocity, what their come ups were during the CFCN’s. Pug those in and fire your first sighter. You can also watch your hits on the impact berm during a blow off period (only done at 700 meters except for the 3rd day which is 2 twenty shot strings at 900m). You will hit a bit low but it is better than nothing. Also will give a decent idea on windage needed. Use every round you fire to glean info.

Hey guys, sorry I'm late to the party on this one. Been sorta busy this week ;)

Norm, Monte has it pretty much right. The "official" practice session is on Monday the 7th, ahead of our Nationals. Depending on when you get in there's a range just outside of town that will be open on Friday out to 300m that should at least let you make sure things are working as expected. Other than that, as suggested, we do have the blow-offs on the first distance to get some free sighters in, which should hopefully have you close. The range is about 300 ft ASL so if you're playing with a ballistics program that may or may not be important.

Safe travels, and look forward to seeing you up here!

Scott
