Range safety scenario

I dont know about legal issues, but you may get hurt pretty bad if you go around grabbing guns out of guys hands. In my circle that may be considered assault and most guys may feel like you may be trying to use their gun against them. If a guy is wrestling my gun from me and i shoot him i wonder if that would be justified? I dont know what his intentions are. I do know he would have a different story to tell if it was down in the south. “Well i tried to take a gun away from a guy at the range- thats how i lost these teeth.”

That was what I was wondering. Could it be clarified as an assault. Also your acquiring a weapon without permission or a background check? Like I said earlier, sounds legally bad practice to me.

I saw an interesting one at the range yesterday. There was a group that showed up to shoot. One of the guys got out his AR and chambered a round but I guess it wouldn't fully go into battery, like maybe it was a bad round.

His brother, who seemed to know what he was doing, went over to give him a hand and had to "mortar" the AR to get the round to pop out. Once he got the round out he did a smart thing and inspected the barrel, and found a cleaning patch wedged in the chamber

I generally keep my mouth shut , walk to my vehicle and put a yeoolw hi viz safety vest on , walk back . At this point the range officer is aware and if he doesnt see it immediately, he would come over and ask . Then proceed to act .

The other day an RSO showed me a clip from the range surveillance video. Guy set up an AR, his girlfriend sat down to shoot, and the first shot generated huge dust/smoke clouds around the muzzle and ejection port. Apparently the guy had laser boresighted the rifle, and left the boresighter in.

I was practicing my offhand shooting one day at the Rio Salado public range for a high power match the next day because the high power range was not available. I had my high power jacket on over sweat shirts as I recall. My back was turned to the shooter on the bench to my left as I shot, and between rounds I could hear his girlfriend complain about heavy recoil from the revolver he had given her to shoot. I overheard him say something like, "If you think that round was powerful, you should see this!" I was focused on my next shot when I suddenly felt a very sharp pain between my shoulder blades. I cleared my chamber, put the rifle down and turned around. The shooter next to me was standing stock still. He had a stunned expression on a face that was completely blackened by soot, and was still pointing his revolver down range. On the ground was the half of his cylinder that had blown off and struck me in the back. The RSO's came running and I thanked heaven that the cylinder fragment had not hit me in the head. Every time I have to shoot at the public range, I feel like I am taking my life in my hands.
