Thinking of getting for Birthday/Father Day. Recommendations..good/bad. I read all the ads...need real input

If you are into reloading and working up loads - it is a great program. It is pretty complex and not for the rooky. I've had it for about 4 years and use it extensively to work up loads and check on powders BEFORE I buy them.

I handload 19 Badger, .222 .223, 22-250 6mmBR, .243, 25acp, 25/35, 250/3000, 257 Roberts AI, 260, 6.5x55, 270, 7x57mm, 7mm Rem mag, 32acp, 32sw, 32S&WLong, 32-20, 7.62x25mm, 30-30, 303Sav, 300Sav, 7.62x39mm, 308, 7.5Swiss, 30-06, 300WM, 303Brit, 7.62x54R, 8x57mm, 338WM, .380, 9x19mm, 9x23mm, 357 Sig, 38 sp, 357 mag, 38sw, 40sw, 10mm, 10.4mm, 401 power mag, 44mag, 45acp, 45Colt, 452/70, .410, 45/70, and 12 ga.

My wife and son are software engineers, and I get away with being a computer idiot.
The only software I have ever bought for myself in my life is Quickload.

I would own Quickload even if it cost 10 times as much as it does.

It is easy to operate.

The quick target program that comes with it helped me kill (4) deer in 2009 between 329 and 510 yards.

Here is my shpeal on how to use Quickload:

1) Click on the Quickload icon on your desktop
2) Click on "continue".
3) select a cartridge
4) click on the 7th icon on the tool bar. It is the second image that is binoculars over a case.
5) click on "ok"
6) Click on "ok"
7) Click on "ok"
8) Click on "yes"
9) Select a bullet
10) select a powder
11) type in a powder charge
13) type in a barrel length
14) click on "Apply&Calc" in the charge section
15) Wait for 10 seconds for the velocity and pressure to appear

16) Click on the QuickTarget icon on your desktop
17) Click on continue
18) Click on "Receive Data from QuickLOAD"

19) Click on the 16th icon on the Quickload tool bar that says "1 2 3".
20) Enter a maximum pressure of 65,000 psi
21) Click on "Apply&Exit"
22) Find the powder in that list, that you own, that gets the highest velocity
23) Select that powder in the charge section

You should read our comprehensive review on Quickload. It covers many powerful features that are not obvious. Yes, I think the program is worth the money if you experiment with a variety of components or shoot many different cartridge types.
