I am building a stock that might be used for competition in the future. I live in kind of a "vacuum" up here, don't know of anyone with a comp. stock that I can look at. In fact, I have never seen one other than in pictures on the web. I have the forend 3 inches wide for the front bag already. That part was easy.
My question is: how should I form the area for the rear bag (from the toe to the grip)? Should it be flat on the bottom or rounded? If it is flat, how wide should the flat be? Approximately what is the width of the stock 1 inch above the bottom plane?
The bottom plane of the butt is cut to parallel the forend. It will track straight back. I just don't know what the "cross sectional" view should look like.
Thanks for any help.
Jim
