Pulled bullets ?

I tear loads apart frequently and have not seen any accuracy problems with re-seated bullets. However - - do not damage the base of a bullet. Doing so will definitely affect its gyroscopic stability.

Tenring:

I agree 100% about no damage to the base of the bullets. In fact, I have to pull some 7mm bullets without damage. What is the best bullet puller? The old hammer type or something like the Hornady etc?

Thanks,
Jim Hardy

You can pinch the nose with a pair of pliers and they will still go into the group, but don't dare to let a small scratch get on the heel, or all bets are off......
The collet type of pullers do very little damage to a bullet, and it's no problem reloading them.
I never cared for the hammer it out inertia pullers......

A number of years ago I was taking apart some 7 mag cases with an inertia puller and had the primer go off. THANK GOD that's all that went off. That thing went in the trash...!!!!

The Forster and Hornady collet-type pullers are both excellent.

If you're not pulling batches of bullets, a pair of end-cutter pliers with padding around the bullet works very well. Put the loaded cartridge into the press's shellholder, and extend the ram and cartridge through the die-hole. Place the pliers on the bullet and lower the ram.
