Proof Research, stupid Question Time...............

Phil

Gold $$ Contributor
Considering a Proof Research barrel, or two, for a switch barrel project.

Can I damage these barrels, delaminate them, from swapping and re-torqueing(SP??) the barrels when changing them????

Phil.

I believe there is metal shank exposed near the receiver face. As long as you grab metal with your barrel vise you should be OK. Obviously do not clamp onto the carbon fiber. If you go that route ask Proof how to deal with small nicks and such as they could start delamination at those points.

depends on your chuck jaws. if you can clamp them down on barrel steel without leaving nasty jaw marks, you can clamp down pretty hard on the carbon fiber, too. damage is more likely to occur if your jaws slip on the fiber. the barrels are all crowned while clamped directly on the fiber.
