Product test on Winchester StaBALL 6.5

I don't know about this but in my testing with everything at the same temperature gun ammo and me,H4350 and Varget and H4895 all dropped 1fps per degree from 60 degrees to 40 degrees. .... jim

If I am reading correctly, that is not the same thing as testing ammo at different temperatures at the same ambient temperature. What you are seeing is air density changing the velocity... or mostly anyway.

Btw, using totally temp stable powders, that are stable to 20 degrees over 140 degrees F, I see about 1 fps per degree also for ambient temperature, same as you said.

So tell me how valid a test is at 70 degrees and cooling the ammo down and inserting it in a warm gun? At a match the gun is the same temps. I test in and not artificial, same as the ammo. now which one is right? I do know the match I had to bump the load up.2 to get in my Velocity I needed. It duplicated my testing, The way it was tested here are way off base and not real world numbers..... BTW it moved 10 FPS. per tenth ....jim

To answer your question it is very valid.

The US military does it. They do the EXACT same test to test ball ammo to stay within a velocity window from -32f to 140f. And they do the test the same way.

It is not that you are not correct in your test. You are. These are two SEPERATE things...
