Priming tool

What are you guys using to seat your primers? I've been using a lee priming tool that has seen some better days and am looking to upgrade. Just wondering what works best. Thanks, Alan

I've used the sinclair tool for years and its a good one, very smooth and a great feel just get tired of screwing and unscrewing the head. I would really like to give 21st century's priming tool a try, they seem to be pretty good.

ar,
take a good look at the 21st century model. I got one when they first came out. you will use some of your Lee parts make sure you order round or square model. never desired the BR model. All of johns products are first rate!!
cheers,
doc

I had a Lee at one time. Frequently primers would get cocked sideways during the priming stroke. I might have had a lemon. Got rid of it and bought an rcbs which I have no quarrels. 21st century looks nice though.

I am about to get the 21st BR model, single loading one. It looks amazing and I don't mind taking the time to prime this way considering how much time we precision reloaders spend on getting other aspects perfect.

My daughter got me the K&M Primer Deluxe and I like it. Good feel I think. It is here.

I have to say though, that the Forster Co-Ax press is very consistent, its design always setting the primer just about .004" below the case head.

I use the K&M. I agree that if I'm not careful the threaded head can "slip" and change the shell holder position to alter the depth of the seated primer but, inasmuch as I'm a firm believer in seating the primer in the bottom of the primer pocket and not worrying about anything shy of that goal, that "slippage" hasn't been a problem. If the primer were to seat a little higher than it should it's easily detected when removing the primed case from the tool and resetting a high primer is no challenge with the K&M.
I like the looks of the 21st Century model but haven't tried it (pictures appear that it works on the same mechanical principal as the K&M) and with the price at double what you'd pay for the K&M I'm not likely to.

Had a C&H for years...wore it out and replaced it with this from RCBS....couldn't be happier.

21st Century.

It's the smoothest, and has great feel, and adjustability.

I would rate it at the top for precision and build .

I really like and use the 21st priming tool not only does it have a good feel but it is easy to adj. and really easy to change the shel holders. I have used others and this one is very nice and you can see and feel the quality of his tools.

It's a pretty smooth semi automatic primer. No shell holders to contend with and no need for adjusting. Just squeeze till it stops.

I'm also looking. I have a round Lee I've used for many years. I recently dropped the clear plastic cover, which was so old and brittle that it shattered into several pieces. Lee no longer supports the old round model but will exchange it for a square one at 1/2 price + postage. When I do the calculus of 1/2 list price plus 2X postage vs upgrade to a better make, which may require new shell holders, I'm still deciding what to do. ITMT the old one still works with no cover. I just have to be careful to hold pretty close to vertical.

The 21st Century looks very precise but I'm concerned about handling the primers so much. The RCBS Universal looks pretty nifty.

A BIG +1 on this. After talking with them a couple years ago at a shoot where they had a table set up and playing with it for a few minutes, I was sold on it. Since I've got it.... I pitched all the others that I had. Just can't say enough good things about it and the company. Great. :)

If you are concerned about handling primers, just make sure your hands are clean and dry or wear surgical gloves. It isn't as bad as it sounds after you get the hang of it. ;) WD

I am on my second round Lee primer tool and I wore out two of the priming handles on the first one of those before dropping the loader from my bench to the floor and it broke the top part that holds the shell holder in. I have been using the second one for years and if it wears out or breaks I will probably get the new square Lee loader.

+1 for the Sinclair. Been using mine for seven years now and see no reason to change.
