JPX i used to get stuff from Weidner's when they were still in Johnson City. I always called in my order so i could get a weather report. To this day I still believe that the worst thing that ever happened to me was my parents moving me away from Jonesborough.
Jonesborough has really changed IMO, a small time tourist trap with liberal people running the zoo.

I haven't found any primers in the few shops that I go to locally. Bass Pro Shop in Gainesville is 50 miles from my home. They never have any when I go. Last week on Friday after we had been to BCR my buddy and I ran 95 miles north from my home and went to Widden's. John has VV powders in stock and some primers. I've been buying primers from American Reloading since January of last year. Right now American Reloading has primers, and they always do. I've bought 10,000 srp CCI 450's from them. They may not have the brand you want always, but they always have primers.

Here's whats going on! Theres guys literally have every single app notifying them when stuff is available so they buy all they can and turn around a jack the price way up.
If you wanna blame somebody blame the fools who buy on Gunbroker.
I will guarantee you theres sharks who look at this and other sites every day looking to see whats broadcast on the net thats available and were.
If that wasn't the case then why is it Gunbroker is the only one with LRP's?
Shooter fu#$*&^ shooters, you hit the nail on the head!

But remember, over six months ago we were warned by Lapua's CEO in a live interview, "them as well as many other components manufacturers, have a huge amount of military contracts that are priority for fullfilment. This is a priority that is under contract for all of them"

They also stated that Ukraine was just a small amount of those orders. But many countries were ordering because of the unstability around the world caused by not just Russias actions but several other rebel countries.

Until those orders are filled their machines will see as much use meeting those demands till they are caught up. He said that could be into next year as things stood then.

Most components we can't find right now,,, even on GB, are exactly those most used for those mill spec components.

NOO say it isn't true??? When we hit Washington county my cousin always had a new cap for me, Green and yellow John Deere or De Calb, maybe thats wrong but close, some kind of hybrid corn he planted. My uncle lived almost to Erwin on the Nolichucky, I loved spending my summer on that farm. Shoot my first 22s there over 50 years ago with my dad. Dad taught at Cherrokee elementary school, before that Grey Station.

Explain to me how we produce 8.6 BILLION rounds of ammo a year and have given Ukraine 108 million rounds were has the 8.5 billion gone?
Military contracts are not the problem.

You have appeared to have simply ignored @wildcatter 's valid explanation. For a start, the US is not the only country that manufactures ammunition, so what is happening elsewhere is just as important. European countries are buying unprecedented amounts of smallarms military ammunition right now. What is happening in Ukraine has opened a lot of European eyes as to just how vulnerable their countries now are after 40 years of cutbacks and reducing inventories. Then, Finland is making a wholesale transition to NATO-compliant weapons and ammunition having joined the organisation, and she has used 7.62X39 and 7.62X54R as the basic chamberings until now. Primer purchases are across national boundaries, so you and I are in competition with Lapua, BAe, SAKO among several others right now for primers as none of them makes this component in-house.

As western governments decided in the 1970s to 90s to close or sell off government owned 'energetics' manufacturing facilities, we are all in the same single market now for ammunition and components. Companies give priority to military orders. If you don't agree with that, or don't like it - tough! It so happens that within an increasingly tight situation, primers are now the primary bottleneck, simply not enough for all ammunition manufacturers now, never mind handloaders. The loss of Russian primers due to trade sanctions has significantly reduced the supply pool too, especially in Europe. Nammo Vihtavuori is restarting primer production after a quarter century or more absence, but that will take some time and in any event may make the situation a bit less bad than now, but certainly won't offer a cure. Likewise, existing manufacturers have ramped up production levels as far as they can within existing plant facilities, but when you hit maximum output that's it short of major new investment which is unlikely unless governments restart war supplies manufacturing support, and ease health & safety regulations. Right now, all the risks are downside as anything to do with energetics is under threat, especially in Europe. Throw in the financial world's so-called ESG policies, and try and raise capital to fund making ammunition and weapons of any sort.

We are purchasing and shipping artillery rds to Ukraine, small arms don't stop tanks and carriers. They didn't need small arms ammo.
Every military uses far more small arms rounds than artillery, 100's of 1000's more!

And the US isn't the only one supplying them, many other countries are as well. And at the same time themselves stockpiling, while other countries see this and they to see the need to cover their supply needs as well in case they are involved in any conflict.

Trust me countries buy far more than the civilian market, and to get those contracts, suppliers have to agree to meet their needs as priority!

DeKalb;)

I bought 2 - 5000 lots of CCI 450's from American Reloading last year. Two different orders. One was $399. shipped and the other $449. shipped. I considered it to be a decent price compared to other vendors selling them, especially when you add in hazmat and shipping. I'll add, at today's prices, I'd still buy them for that today if they were available and I wanted them.

I'm one of the "fools who buy off gunbroker" that was referred to in an earlier post. The price for the primers wasn't off by a few dollars from most of the online stores that are out of stock, and seeing how I needed these primers to load for my pistol and lever gun I had to buy them if I wanted shoot these guns.

It was a stinger to buy them after hazmat, taxes and gunbrokers fee. Only saving grace is it will be a one time purchase.

Yes, exactly so.

But it isn't as if we're able to supply Ukraine fully with artillery rounds either. Both US and Europe have largely given their strategic stocks of 155mm shells (the standard in today's arty) away, and Ukrainian forces are still having to ration shells to their batteries. There is a big and looming problem in artillery supplies. Our Minister for Defence has had to appeal to the City of London money men too in recent weeks, as nobody will provide loans for increasing shell production under ESG policies. The West increasingly appears to have a death wish.

Manufacturers sell to wholesalers, who sell to distributors, who sell to dealers, who sell to us. Everyone takes their cut and we pay the price.......
That is the way it is suppose to be. I know the dealers are not getting the products in my state. Utah is a big state. We have people selling powder and primers online every day. Their address is a hundred miles from any of the large metro areas. This has been going on for 1 1/2 years now.
