Primers

primers do have some weird things goin on, I just started lookin at mine there is always a few out of every 100 that look suspect. I have a long way to go wish I could back up and punt 2 yrs ago, or wish I hadn't stopped shooting 20 yrs ago. The info is overwhelming these days

I just started well at 600 yards I see no difference now beyond that it could be I'll do some more testing . 600 yards I loaded 5 the same and threw 2 in that was lighter and heavier didn't see any difference in the group...... no flyers.

The process used in making primers I can't see where weight would make a difference.
But I could of missed something . Larry

Do the cups actually all weigh the same? Ignition is the most important part of a charge from my expeirience with muzzleloading but is there a constant there? I don't feel that I can touch this and control it. I just buy quality and hope they did their job.

I never used the chroni tonight but definitely will next time out , I was looking for difference in the group on paper.

I don't weigh primers, but I tell my competitors at matches that I do. The smart ones just laugh. Others give me "that look", which tells me that on days I score well, they're gonna' rush home and start weighing primers in an effort to beat me next time. Mission accomplished. ;)

You should shoot a Savage when you say that .. Larry

As a matter of fact I do shoot a Savage. When they ask about my gun I tell the secret to my success is a firm connection between the barrel and action. I advise them to go home and use plenty of Loctite 638 (red, high strength) on their barrel threads.
NOTE TO THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR OR AN UNDERSTANDING OF SARCASM: This is a joke. Do NOT try this at home.

If it gives you that "warm & fuzzy" feeling go for it. For me its right along side cutting kernels in half. IMO it's all about the ignition sequence (flow) within the cup and how it flows into the powder...and then we get to another ignition sequence. I think the latter (powder) is something we have some control over, not so sure about primers. I agree some primer cups look odd but my very limited testing has shown no difference for me and my skill set at 600 & 1000. Too many other influences that have a much greater effect on the final outcome. Have fun with your endeavors. Eric in DL
