Primer prices - having a laugh?

Mr. William Jefferson Clinton taught me back years ago never to get caught with my pants down again....as far as reloading components goes anyway. Stocked up over the years thank goodness I should have enough to last the rest of my shooting career. I do feel sorry for people that have never been through this rodeo. I don’t feel sorry for people that knew better. Be glad the powers that be have not figured they should slap some type of a tax on components or loaded ammunition...... at least not yet they haven’t. Think the complaining is bad now I can’t imagine if that were to ever happen.

I don’t believe in buying things that I don’t need. I think that’s chicken sh**.
I do buy a lot of the things I use. I don’t, however, have a crystal ball. So, when I get the hankering for something new, and it doesn’t use the same powder/powders as my other stuff, I’m in a bind.

People talk about this shortage like it will end. I don’t think it ever will. I’m 2017 I bought 3 8 lb jugs of Varget. I haven’t seen one since then. Where do we go from here?

Prices are never coming back to $40 a thousand. People have yet to see the inflation hit. Trucking rates are astronomically above all time highs...truckloads are moving for 5 to 8 bucks a mile and those are normal loads. Rate have gone up 200 percent in the last 2 years. It must be passed down. Brace yourself.
It costs roughly $5000-$5500 to ship 44,000 lbs from Min. to either coast. That would be about 48 pallets per trailer. I don't know if they could fill a full trailer with HAZ MAT or not,but that gives an idea of current shipping costs.

where are they still buying 40 bucks a thousand primers to scalp. I was at Cabelas the other day and the shelf was loaded with primers...at 90 bucks a thousand....I would love to know who is still selling primers at 40 a thousand when in stock...
The key word (was). Some parts of the country have better access to primers and powder then others.

Yup, if you didn’t learn anything when Clinton was in office, don’t know what to tell you and I don’t fell sorry for you. Hillary out and out said at that time if we can’t outlaw guns we will make them to expensive to shoot. I firmly believe she and hers had a lot to do with the brass/copper prices, trying different angles.

If you have not seen 8lb jugs of powder for five years your not looking.

I am a shooter, I kept a supply in advance for what I use. If I came across a GREAT sale, I stocked up. What I need and what I use I take into consideration.

I ran across a ridiculous deal on Bullseye powder a number of years ago. It was way more than I figured I would ever use. Yet over the span of what seemed a few years it is all but gone. My point being I didn’t need it at the time, but I knew what I used. I really thought I would never burn 24lbs of bullseye in my life time.

I still look for some enterprising small foreign country to show up in the US with primers.

It will settle back down.

If you really want to worry and fret about things you better watch the grocery stores in the next 18-24 months if not sooner. Fertilizer prices are as high as I have ever heard. A lot of it is made from natural gas.

Some reloaders here aren't old as dirt and others may not have started reloading until after Clinton. I myself learn from history knowing it does repeat itself especially with our government. I did however drop the ball on the srp. I have about 8000. I'll get by and purchase some when I see fit.

I have to edit this, not trying to be disrespectful here about age. I'm 62 and counting, however I know that I finally got off my butt and started reloading after Clinton. Also I wasn't intentionally bragging about an amount of primers. However if I continue on the trend I'm on in 12 months I will go thru about 4000 or more, by September

This sport takes a financial toll on people especially when they try to get started, or just staying even with guns, scopes, tools, scale up grades ,components etc. one two or even three years ahead of supplies. holy crap it never ends and I’m happy for y’all that brag about being set for many years but when it comes to the I told ya so talk-maybe just give it a freaking rest.

Have a nice day:)

So whats really bothering you brother?
I suspect my phones gonna ring in a minute.

Guys I’m right there with you. Please be very careful of the pictures that you post. In this crazy world we don’t know who’s watching. I knew a gentleman who had the misfortune of a house fire. His insurance refused to pay for the reason of excess smokeless in his home. Keep in mind that there are limitations set by the BATF.

why worry about it? you should have enough on hand to hold you over for several years, that is, if you learned anything from the last several panic buying sprees. and every time it has happened, prices bottomed out afterwards when the market was flooded with them as folks bought up enough in the panic to keep them supplied for a while. buy when the bottom drops, at least then you can keep the folks selling in biz as we lost several good wholesalers after Trump was elected and nothing was selling. Keep that in mind next time around.
