Primer prices - having a laugh?

So of late I'be been bombarded by Bruno Shooters Supplies, often several times a day which just makes me want to unsubscribe from their emails, over primer and powder stock. I decided to check what I paid the last time I bought primers.
CCI BR4 in April 2018 I bought a bunch at an equivalent of $55/1000. Bruno is now touting stock at $140 per 1000 (if bought in lots of 5k). Yes prices should have gone up but not 250% !!! Clearly there's a lot of gouging still going on this market. Let them sit on the shelves for a bit longer yet. Luckily I have plenty for now.

not..
maybe you should call lester and talk to him.
shooters paid 200 per k and more...MANUFACTURES ARE NOT BLIND.
they bumped the prices the last time when people were paying 100/k
do not expect to see price much lower when they sit on the shelf

Last time I bought bulk stocks, I got SP, SR, LP, and LR CCI cases of 5K for something like $240 each. Unfortunately, they didn't last through the ongoing pandemic (which, granted, I wasn't really planning for.)

Recently, I've been getting a thou at a time from Brownells and Midway (that was the limit) for about $80 (plus hazmat, plus shipping); they both seem to have gone up by $10 or so in the last couple of months.

If people don't think there's price conditioning going on they've got there head up there a$$, just read the article Vista just put out. Sure things have gone up but unless I've missed it I cant find anything else thats gone up almost 300%

Most of the stores have had them for less than $100 but with limit of 1 brick. Brunos must believe that not having a limit makes the premium worth it? Hard to find Berger 105's but when you do the price is around 15% more than 2019, why are primers the exception? While I don't expect pricing to go back to pre-pandemic, hard to justify what they are asking lately.

The facts of life:

- there are a bunch of enterprises out there that want to separate you from you money.

- in a free market economy - the law of suppy and demand will control pricing.

- what is too expensive for one person - is not for another - there is always someone willing to pay higher for what they want especially in times of shortages and "panic buying".

- the human psyche is such that, in the times of shortages, humans will tend to hoard items they consider essential - the survival instinct will kick it - that's not bad or good - it's just the way it is.

For me on a fixed income - the shooting sports is becoming prohibited cost wise. I have to ration my shooting - so much for the enjoying the "golden years" but it's not brain cancer. What I learned in the Army and in almost 75 years of life is - adapt and overcome.

PS: Rationing my shooting is becoming easier since the components I want are not available anyway. :)

K22, absolutely! I can see a 15-25% increase but 100 -200% in simply unacceptable. Nobody has everything I need and so I'll be stuck paying the Hazmat fee 2 or 3 times.

I usually pop 1000+ rifle primers a year and double that trap shooting. Last year I sighted in the hunting rifles and our trap range closed due to lack of shooters. I am older than you and guess I'll be looking for a new hobby.

THE ANTI'S ARE WINNING, maybe they have won!

You only get that price from Bruno if you buy 15k. From this morning's email:

CCI Primers # BR-4 Small Rifle Benchrest - CASE OF 5,000 PRIMERS $700.00

CCI Primers BR-4 Small Rifle Benchrest - LOT OF 10,000 PRIMERS $1,370.00

CCI Primers BR-4 Small Rifle Benchrest - LOT OF 15,000 PRIMERS $2,025.00

You won't find me paying $125 per 1k either!
