Primer prices coming down

I still say that people FAR overspent during Covid and all the panic buying/hysteria …. There’s still more price decreases coming IF everyone doesn’t go into “Chicken Little” mode again … the sky is not falling …. I think in next 1-2 years you ll see powder prices experience same downward pressure ….. Gougers no long in drivers seat as long as people don’t panic buy.

My 2 cents anyway ….

I went to Bass Pro today after a dental visit & was going to pick up some reloading supplies. The only primers I needed were large rifle magnum & they were $11.00 per pack of 100, needless to day, only picked up a pack for reloading 7mm Remington Magnum. Powder was $60.00 per pound, so none of that came home with me.

Reloading has become too costly to do anymore unless you are loaded in the wallet department.

Prices had to go up during the Biden and dem governors covid rules. Work station spacing, couldn't work with out masks(remember masks were unavailable). Unemployment payments above regular paycheck, why go back to work. Dems even tried to close gun stores, their attempts to rewrite history must also override memory.

Well, I was all ready to pull the trigger on some of those primers...until I discovered that if you wanted more than one case, you had to pay another hazmat fee. So I said to heck with it.

Just got an email from them telling me the price went down even more, so I picked up a case of Rem LRM primers for ~ $254 total delivered.

Now that 189.00 is getting to the " new normal"

If the Ukraine conflict goes away and Russian primers come back at pre covid prices American primers will come down. I never used the Russian primers before, but if they come back I am all in. I would like to avoid rewarding the inventors of the primer shortage by purchasing their product.

Do you actually think we are sending more primers to Ukraine than we used in Iraq and Afghanistan when both were going hot and heavy?
2005 we used 1.8 billion.
Ukraine is nothing more than an excuse.

Over and over again. The hazmat fee charged by a vendor has the shipper's charge plus additional man-hour costs for the additional packing and marking requirements. The shipper's cost also is made up of those costs and includes training and other scheduling costs. DOT limits the amount of primer/powders and other HAZMAT items than can be shipped in any one vehicle. It's not simple.

The last two cases of primers i bought from two different vendors were shipped in the manufacturer's original packaging only, only had a haz plackard on it.

Still charged$30 from one vendor $35 hazmat from the other.

I am not picking on any supplier. If UPS, FedEx, and the rest allow shippers to pick and choose when and how much Hazmat is, it is just an extra fee they can use as they wish.
