Now that 189.00 is getting to the " new normal"Well, I was all ready to pull the trigger on some of those primers...until I discovered that if you wanted more than one case, you had to pay another hazmat fee. So I said to heck with it.
Just got an email from them telling me the price went down even more, so I picked up a case of Rem LRM primers for ~ $254 total delivered.
The name of that place worries me a little, but I have seen some here mention them before. Now that 189.00 is getting to the " new normal"
Do you actually think we are sending more primers to Ukraine than we used in Iraq and Afghanistan when both were going hot and heavy? If the Ukraine conflict goes away and Russian primers come back at pre covid prices American primers will come down. I never used the Russian primers before, but if they come back I am all in. I would like to avoid rewarding the inventors of the primer shortage by purchasing their product.
Regardless, usually 5000+ primers with shipping costs from this retailer is routinely cheaper than most others.^^^^^^ If shippers can change the hazmat fee at their will, it's not a fee it's a scam.
The last two cases of primers i bought from two different vendors were shipped in the manufacturer's original packaging only, only had a haz plackard on it.Over and over again. The hazmat fee charged by a vendor has the shipper's charge plus additional man-hour costs for the additional packing and marking requirements. The shipper's cost also is made up of those costs and includes training and other scheduling costs. DOT limits the amount of primer/powders and other HAZMAT items than can be shipped in any one vehicle. It's not simple.
