PRIMER CATCHER FOR RCBS PRESSES

I have one for aRC Supreme that I'm not using now. I moved to the T7 turret and this sits in a cabinet with the press. PM me if interested.

Just ordered one for my RC.. Can't wait to get it. Looking forward to not having spent primers dragged all over the house in the soles of my shoes...

Got mine today, (Thank You for the fast delivery) set it up but don't care for the idea of having to remove the "slot filler" so I can change shell holders. But than again, I'am old and pretty set in my ways.
Now tell me, how am I suppose to function without stepping on spent primers on the floor?? Got no snow or ice out here but I like the idea of better traction with a few primers stuck to the bottom of my shoes.;)
Easy install, when you read the directions. :)

I've always used a rubber o-ring to hold my shell holders in place, believing it allows the shell holder/case to find the center of the die smoothly.
That said, I believe the "slot filler" takes its place and still allows my holder to find its center.
So for me it's a win win situation.

Richard,

NorCalMikie, thanks, that is a good point - if you don't prime on the press, there is really no need to remove the slot filler. I will change the design and moving forward add one or two fillers that can be put in place and allow changing of shell holder without removal of the filler.

I'll post it here when it is ready and whoever wants one can e-mail me their order number and I will send a few over for free.

The USPS nag dropped mine off about an hour ago. There are now fifty small rifle, twenty small pistol and twenty large rifle primers in the tube. It didn't miss a beat.
Thanks Tom!

Just got around to using new RCBS RC catcher. Works like a charm. Primers don't get spit out onto the floor and are easily removed through the drain tube.

Wish I had this years ago and I wouldn't still be sweeping up stray primers from the original catcher.

Great job!!!!

Sorry, it's just a matter of principal. I refuse to pay for a device, regardless of how clever it is when they charge $25.00 for twenty cents worth of molded plastic. I appreciate he basic fact that everyone deserves to make a fair profit but I come back to my original statement, $25.00 dollars for an inexpensive piece of plastic is absurd. I'll use the vacuum to collect the primers that my rcbs collector misses. The exercise will be good for me.

When I was using the RC I added a longer hose for the spent primers and dropped them straight into a 1 gallon bucket on the floor under the press.

Well, I wish it was injection molded part, but an injection mold form is about $10,000 - not something that makes any sense for a low volume item like the primer catchers.

So, to be clear, this is not injection molded (neither are the models of my competitors), but 3D printed. Layer by layer, each 0.2 mm high, taking about 5 hours each to be produced.

From a cost perspective, the raw plastic material is about $13.50 - not considering all the prints that fail because of power outages, or simply because the software or hardware went into an unpredictable error and messed up the print.

Keep using your vacuum, nobody forces you to buy anything, heck, vacuum or other workarounds worked on almost all presses for pretty much all reloaders for years and years. Nothing wrong with that. This part is simply a solution that made my life (and the ones of over 1000 customers) easier...

But do me a favor - next time, simply ask about the facts before spreading rants that are not based on any reality.

Edit: In case the cost for the catcher is too high for your financial abilities, send me a pm and I will be more than happy to send you one for free.

Just dumped the Filled RCBS primer catcher on the floor!! 20 minuets later I'm @ 6BR and see this thread, talk about timing. Will be ordering ASAP.
I do that on a regular basis it seems. My solution when sizing is to place my hand in front of the primer catcher. Still when I spill the mess myself I wonder why I even bother. Maybe I'll just start letting them all go on the floor and sweep em up after...

I looked and the site says there is one for the Jr...but I do not see it? I have an old cast iron Jr. Is the old RC the same?
