Preliminary LabRadar Testing

Will the "average Joe" ever see these (I'm beginning to have my doubts)?? >:( :-X

My gut says no we won't ever see these units as a consumer. Those who has had the privilege to use one where demo units and my guess once demoed they probably had to return them.

Iwas just thinking about a scenario where a guy would set up his Lab Radar while shooting a "local club match" ( read: not a big match mind you) Would the system pick up everyone or a few other shooters bullets? Boy would that be a bag full of wet Cat's!

Russ,

I had the LR on the line at Perry last week. With the correct microphone sensitivity setting and placement, it only picks up the 'intended' shooters shots.

Well I have had my LabRadar unit for some time now and I thought it was time to give another update it is serial number 15.
First, as they say, “You would have to pry it out of my cold dead hands” to get it from me, will not go back to the old style chronographs.
You will draw a crowd when you bring it to the line, questions like what is that, then after you tell every one what it is they all want to help set it up and see it work.
I pre set mine up so all I have to do is aim it and turn it on, maybe 10 to 15 seconds worth of time.
You should adjust the start volume if there is other shooter near you as you will pick up there shots also, it an easy adjustment in the set up menu.
I have shot .22 to .308 bullets and not had any problems reading the bullets velocities.
If you go through the information that is stored for each shot, you will have more information on the ballistics for that bullet than you will receive from bullet vendors.
I have been testing some ammo combinations at the muzzle then setting the unit up at 600 yards with it in the constant on mode to track the bullet as it goes by, interesting results, correct BC for your bullet at 600 yards, not an estimate.
Purchase some recharagble batteries, they last longer and in the end cheaper, plus you can recharge at the range if you have AC power available. I did wear the normal replaceable batteries down on one range session, and then went to recharable with no further problems.
It is a great unit purchase one; you will not regret it, as I said I would not go back to the old style chronographs.

That is good to hear! I really want one. I see what our doppler gear at work can do, I am sure this can be done.

Great, but how do I buy one? I put in my e-mail several times but never heard from anyone. I don't see a phone number or address.

It seems to track .22 caliber bullets just fine. One thing I noticed that if the shooting lanes are clear it works better as it tracks the bullet out to 100 yards and farther.
On page three, I posted results for .223 bullets, as there was a thought that it would not track these small bullets. Lab Radar just had a software upgrade that I installed yesterday and then I tested it out today, seems to work better than before, hard to believe as it works so good as it was delivered. After Perry this year, I will try some .17 to see how they track.

FYI guys,
Just got this.

We just published the detailed review of the single LabRadar unit we received a while back. Read it HERE.

It worked very well for the guys but as we had heard from another online review, they had trouble getting consistent readings on small caliber rounds. When we gave it a quick try before sending it off to our writers, Len and I noticed that the sensitivity setting wasn't solving the problem of neighboring shooters at the range triggering unwanted readings as it should have. We recently received a software update that is said to solve those two problems. We haven't had a chance to load the update and test it out yet, but we will. We will email you with our findings when we do.

Unfortunately we just got more bad schedule news. They are now telling us that our first large shipment is expected in September. At this point I don't pretend to know what is causing the delays. I imagine that some time was lost cleaning up the issues that were discovered by folks like us. I am still very excited about this product and like you, am eagerly awaiting it's arrival and a bit frustrated with the delays.

We understand if you are tired of waiting or need a chrono sooner than that and would like to cancel your pre-order. Just let us know. Otherwise we'll keep you on the list and stay in touch as we receive any more information. By the way, we have the MagnetoSpeed V3 and MagnetoSpeed Sporter chronos in stock if you need a chrono now.

Feel free to email or call with any questions but if you can wait until Monday we would appreciate it as our store is closed for the holiday weekend.

Let's be real and assume this is never going to come to the market. It has been one excuse after another with this company.

James,
I had to wait a year for my bipod, but then one day it arrived. Patience, you'll appreciate it more when you get it. In the meantime my Oehler works just fine.

Hey guys,

I received mine yesterday, spent the day at the range with it. I did not have another chrono to compare it with but I must say I am impressed. The Labradar had no problem tracking every round. We chonoed 4 guns with it. 223, 77gr lapua, , 5.56 62gr without a finished base aka cheap bullet in another rifle. 168gr and 208gr. We chroned the 4 rifles and entered the data in AB. Everyone was bang on out to 500m,except me with the 77gr. My zero was good at 100m but AB data kept me low by .1 to .3 mils depending on the distance.

Could it be possible that the .207 BC from the Litz library is too high for the 77gr scenar? Its quite higher then the .192 Berger one?. Anyone has experience with it? Or an idea why I was always low? I was shooting an 18 inch ctr02 bullets coming out at 2679fps.

Please post a picture of the chronograph and your setup

Hey Bill,

I Pre ordered it about 3 months ago from buymylabradar.com The guy told me that the site was up for special clients for reviews or something like that and said he could either reimbourse me or I could stay in line until it was my turn. I have serial#84 so not many are out yet.

Jeff,
Glad to hear someone got one. I emailed them again the other day and they said they wouldn't be getting any till maybe september.
