preferred gun cases

which do you guys prefer a soft or hard gun case primarily for trips to the range ?

Hard cases are way too heavy, been using the soft cases from Champions Choice and they work great

I use the cheap hard cases to go to the range. The “nice expensive Pelican” type cases ARE too heavy!

I use the soft cases from Midway for everything except the Vudoo, which rides in a Airglide. The soft cases are easier to deal with, and I've never done any damage to any so far.

I have both Pelican and Plano. Use the Plano more because the Pelicans are just to heavey for range trips.

Depends on the value of the weapon. Expensive weapons with select wood are stored alone in double-rifle, heavy aluminum cases. ELRs weapons are in there own specific cases hard cases. ARs go in soft cases except for one varmint rifle.

Boyt for the everyday range trips and hunting, couple of cheap plastic ones for the car trips to matches, and the SKB for airline travel.

Well my range is only 25 minutes away, I use a soft Springfield Armory case for my M1A and a Savage 12FPV, I have a Tactical Case for the Valkyrie and my F-Class moves in a Hard Case. I just bought a Soft Case from Creedmoor for with Shoulder straps once I get there.

My prize wood stock 6br is in a champion choice.
I rarely take it out of the truck just remove rifle.

My prize McMillan stock 30br is in Plano air glide.

The soft case would have been a mess in the rain and mud we found ourselves in last weekend.
The hard case cleaned up quickly.
But Plano air are hard to find now.

My pelicans have wheels on them. Helps with the weight but protects.

Creedmoor Sports soft case for the bechrest rifle.
Blackhawk soft case for the AR.
For my O/U target shotgun, this spring I switched from an aluminum Americase to a soft case I picked up at Scheels. Amazing how much lighter it is when the case doesn't way weigh more than the gun.

I have sickness when it comes to hard cases… I have pelican, boyt, skb, nanuk, etc.

But the Plano airglide cant be beat for range trips
