Preferred .22 LR Ammo for 100 yards?

My best 100 yard 5 shot group was with RWS R-50. That , however was not indicative of how well I shoot in all conditions, all the time. My Walther KKM likes R-50 the best but also shoots 10X, Midas+, and Center-X fairly well. There is a rumor that RWS is still making R-50, but I have no proof that is true. The 10 ring on that picture is 0.5" in diameter. That group was a fluke, but I did shoot it with a CZ457 Varmint.

Ah yes, R50, I remember it well. ;) I've got a few boxes left from a couple years ago that I'm going to shoot a few rounds of in my MTR build tomorrow if I can get out to the range.

I test different brands and lots for what performs the best at that time and to my accuracy requirements.

Examples of 100 yd 10 shot groups fired from the shoulder with a sling in conventional prone match conditions.

Anschutz 1813 w/ Krieger 1:17 barrel Lapua ammo.

I believe you could find a lot of either that shoot well in your rifle. The question is which one will you be lucky enough to come across. I’ve had better luck with Eley match than center-x. My current two lots of match are great.

The best ammo for 100yds. well it's the one that shoots good in your rifle. not trying to be wise-A but you won't know which is best until you try it.
Here is an example 50 shots 100yds. Lapua CX first time shot in this rifle at 100yds.
Also a mini Palma I shot for the Sniper's Hide online matches.

Lee
midas + is my next try

Are you group shooting at 100 yards or doing something else? I have had decent luck shooting silhouettes out to 200 yards with Eley Semi Auto Benchrest precision ammo with a 1710 Anschutz. Easy to keep them all on the rams (from the bench) if you mind the wind a little bit.
shooting for score at first then we will be shooting group

I got a Garmin chrono for Xmas and since it is much smaller than the old Labradar, I am taking it to the range for every session. I shot 63 shots of Lapua SLR with a box speed of 334m/s (1095.8 fps) in today's 50/100 yard Dewar match. The 63 shots had an average velocity of 1060.1 fps, an ES of 41.4 fps, and a SD of 9.2 fps. It is helping me determine whether an errant shot is my technique, a missed wind call or the ammo. In this case I knew right away that the three shots that weren't X's were variations in muzzle velocity. 2 of those 3 were also due to my failure to recognize a further sight adjustment need.

Now I need to figure out whether the ES is really the ammo, or inconsistent ignition. I am the 4th owner of this Calfee built Turbo Mk 1, and from the gunk I cleaned from the bolt internals on receipt, I suspect it has the original firing pin spring.

Ahh rimfire! If only we could know the shot velocity before releasing it!

Knowing the next round's velocity doesn't mean it's POI can be predicted. Wind aside, rounds don't always go where the MV says it ought to go.
Unfortunately, the app stripped out the tongue in cheek emoji after the sentence you quoted.

That said, in this limited run of data the correspondence of muzzle velocity to vertical placement on the target was very pronounced at 100 yards. It is something I will look at further in our Dewar & Mini Palma matches through the coming season.

I will be interested to see the ES & SD for the same lot of ammo in the other rifles I rotate through those competitions.

Anyone shooting a Remington 513T care to tell us what is your best shooting cartridge~?
2nd best!?

My Time Precision/Shilen combo likes Center-X (<1" at 100) and hates SK LR. The Lapua LR and SLR remain to be tested.
YMMV. The testing is part of the fun?

I've got a nice CZ457, 8 oz trigger, 18.5" Bartlein, bedded into a Boyds varmint stock, with a 5-25x Venom. It shoots SK LR very well out to 400. It averages right at 1" at 100 for 5 shots. I've tested at least 20 types of ammo in the low to middle tier range and it always produces the best overall average. I have never tried the top tier stuff in it. I can't justify the price to performance difference for a 22 LR.

For what it's worth, and I do love my RWS-50......It shot 100 yards about
as good as my Tenex. I decided to pick up 2 different lot numbers of the
RWS-100 and shoot them all side by side. At 50 yards, the Tenex and
RWS-50 were neck and neck. Both lots of RWS-100 shot the same but
groups averaged 1/8" larger. I still say, that in good conditions, the lower
velocity ammo is still the way to go on paper.
