certain custom dies for large boreI’m not sure why a guy would need more than a standard size die. What am I missing ?

I think, not sure yet,I don’t even know what I just read. 22 posts and I’m not sure if there’s a question, a statement, or a point. Is this what the kids call getting trolled? I’m going to start a thread titled “I like tater tots”, and see where it goes…..
Please advise, what am I missing?
Screw the gunHere’s what makes me happy, these days. I buy a nice old gun, do some load work up and testing to find what it likes. If I can get it to shoot, it’s a win. I’m using my old Rockchucker and a Parker tuned scale with RCBS or Redding dies.

Not fancy enough to be competetive todayWhen I built my full length sizing die for that 338 Ackley Imp, I built it on a 1 1/4 12 tpi to use in a RockChucker with the bushing removed.View attachment 1717896
Yeah, but if you had done the sizing on a press only twenty-five times more expensive, maybe that stray .0005 wouldn't have shown up.A question arose as to how consistent guys are sizing brass so I thought I would just do some measuring [...]
Thinking with the wrong headI don’t know what the heck was i thinking
I have a new Hood made by Arkco and its by far the most consistent for BRA by far… i use One Shot and it doesnt introduce variance. Follow the directions. Second place is my Co-Az and its close to the Hood… third RCBS…. Ive loaded thousands… that my pecking order. The type of lube and how even you apply it is just as important if not more so than your press. For BR sized cases the Hood press gives me around a .0005" bump consistency. I could do better if I applied lube more consistently. I just use my fingers and sizing wax. I have a few buddies with a Prazi. Maybe one day I can compare the two. Im not sure improving past .0005" would show on target. But when I get serious I will sort my record rounds to exactly the same bumps and bullet oal. The others are sighters.

Just had to go there didn't you....I think, not sure yet,
it's a justification for shooters to compensate what they're not seeing on target
.... with nicer loading equipment
it makes 'em feel better
