Not quite right, Rick. A straight 6 Grendel shares the same shoulder and with a PPC but the shoulder is .070" further forward. Overall length is nominally the same, so the Grendel neck is shorter than the PPC. Everything else is basically the same. Small primer, flash holes and Lapua brass. It just has to be necked down from 6.5 to 6mm...no fire forming per se.I think the case was made about 16K longer and renamed 6 Grendel....
Regards
Rick
We all see lot to lot variations in powder. Any chance changing the case by a small amount can optimize the case to those powder lots? Just take lot 10 of LT32 for example...Virtually no one shoots it because it's too bulky, can't get enough in the case. That's the hair we're splitting. The shoulder angle, body taper, and volume is what makes it magic. Change any of them and it becomes any other cartridge
Or up to 7mm and call it Big Daddy.![]()
What do you mean by "toobulky" , I've not had a problem with it.We all see lot to lot variations in powder. Any chance changing the case by a small amount can optimize the case to those powder lots? I've shot 50 or so pounds of lot10 over last few years no issue getting enough in the case standard ppcNeckky ,my PPc runs at 27.7 gr LT32 with plenty of room for max 28.1.
I'm speaking of lot 10 vs lot 15 of lt32. Both can shoot just fine but I just dumped several charges of both, at the same setting on the powder measure. The lot 10 averaged right at .4 tenths lighter than the 15. Not a lot but when you're loading at the top end and out of case, that's enough to matter. In my case, it is enough to make it near impossible to handle the loaded case without spilling it everywhere. Some people go as far as using an electric tooth brush to settle the powder in each case. I really prefer to not do all that. Lol!What do you mean by "toobulky" , I've not had a problem with it.
Nuttin wrong with that. Glad its working for you Tim.I've shot 50 or so pounds of lot10 over last few years no issue getting enough in the case standard ppc
Usually 28.8 to 29.3 shoots well
Get you a “sho nuff” drop tube. Heres my 14”I'm speaking of lot 10 vs lot 15 of lt32. Both can shoot just fine but I just dumped several charges of both, at the same setting on the powder measure. I would echo this. When the PPC was in development ever shoulder angle was test. I think even in 1d increments. 30D was the magic number. The shoulder angle, body taper, and volume is what makes it magic. Change any of them and it becomes any other cartridge
Ok. Got to ask? What’s up with the Dasher loads in the zilploc bag?Get you a “sho nuff” drop tube. Heres my 14”View attachment 1173432
