Going to order a new reamer soon for some new barrels. Currently shooting a .262 chamber and I'm find with turning brass. What size neck do you guys like and why ? I'd like to hear some input
Greg I agree 100% about clickers. .268 what I was leaning towards neck wiseI’m running a 268 nk. Pretty sure Bart was shooting a .273 no turn at nationals and he did pretty well, lol. In my limited experience and knowledge I’d say the .200 line is probably more important than the neck diameter. Plenty of records have been shot with all kinds of neck diameters but clickers suck.

I like fat butts!I ordered a reamer recently and went with the .268. (haven't received it yet) I'm new to this whole benchrest thing but it seemed like the popular diameter these days. You can get the necks turned in one pass since your not removing as much material.
What diameter at the 0.2" line are people liking these days?
It happens when your die doesn’t size the case enough at the base( .200 line). It causes hard extraction which in turn upsets the gun in the bags and slows you down. The fix is a die with a tighter base or a reamer with a larger diameter at .200 up from the base. What's a "clickers"
Yes, I screwed up there, I should have gone .442 but ended up .4413.442 minimum
Just me...I'd go .4423 or so. You won't regret it. No accuracy gained or lost here, IME. Clickers suck and yes, they hurt accuracy from a handling standpoint, if you get the clicker syndrome. Depends a lot on the dies you probably already have. We can only split .001 so many times and probably won't see any difference for most of those times. Tighter is sometimes worse, rather than better and brass is only virgin...once.. Bigger carbs and cams had to be better, right? Lol!Yes, I screwed up there, I should have gone .442 but ended up .4413
Harrells will be able to fix you up with a fl size die that’ll work with thatYes, I screwed up there, I should have gone .442 but ended up .4413
I’ve got 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5! Should be GTG!Harrells will be able to fix you up with a fl size die that’ll work with that
Yeah. I use a 3.0I’ve got 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5! Should be GTG!
That is in my ad for my gun, the jgs 1045, has .045 FBhow much free bore are in your reamers i think around 35 th or45th
would like talk free bore mine is the old standby jgs 1045
That is the reason I went to a .268 and now ordered a .274 6PPC reamer now that Lapua has decided their brass needs to be thicker in the neck. I'll still skim (maybe). If I ever get a PPC reamer it's going to have a .273 neck. I will still neck turn just to clean up, but turning necks twice just to make them so thin they get damaged by breathing on them wrong is getting old fast.
