Powered Trickler

I've seen some real fancy trickler mods with belt drives and such even one that was controlled of all things a smart phone. I did this and it works great and I have made several for my friends and they really like to use it. It consisted of a small 1.5-3v vibrating motor, 4" piece of K&S 5/16" thick wall tubing, a small push button switch, a couple of O-rings, 1.5 volt battery holder and a few wired connectors. I didn't mention the tube has a 3/16" hole drilled and the motor side is plugged with a small piece of dowel. A drop of super glue holds the motor in place. I taped the wires from the motor as they are fine as frog hair. Those red connectors are from the RC world and they are called JST connectors. This simple little thing works so well.VibroTrickler.jpg

I've got a little dandy trickler that gets used every time I load anymore but thought sumin like this would be nice to have as a back up...Would like to see it in action a video would be nice if it wouldn't be to much trouble;);)

Load development:
I weigh cartridge, zero scale, overcharge, weigh, dump some out, weigh dump some more.
Thinking about getting a little dandy.
This is great!
Is there no rotation of the tube? Just vibrate the powder out??
Im in, thanks for sharing!!

I did this and it works great
How well does it handle the variety of powders (spherical to large stick)? I have a Little Dandy, and I have to make significant changes that it provides for, when I go to those extremes. And yours doesn't have those same capabilities as best I can tell.

The tube does not rotate it just vibrates the powder and out it comes, I have used all kinds of powder, spherical and stick and it all functions great. After a while you seem to learn the technique of how long to push the button. I was always having issues of having to reach over the scale to twist the trickler knob which was a PITA. Sure speeds up the task weighing powder.

Your right the Dandy does need tuned for different powders, I love it so much I bought a second one with the scale attachment but I do t think Dan wouldn’t have much trouble adding a longer tube with a dampner if it needs it.

Making a longer tube would be no problem the stock that I use is 12" long. I just copied the original RCBS trickler pipe.
Dan,
I would like to see it in action as well if you can figure out how to post a short video.

p.s nice job

OMG!!!

We have now progressed to being too lazy to twist a knob? o_O

My fancy update is a Hornady Quick Trickler. The manual type!

The way my bench is set up I have to reach over and behind the scale and twist the knob for every load, it just make life easier for me your mileage may vary.

I'm a cheater to !!!

Ive been doing 100 cases in just under 40 minutes including bullet seating...

RCBS chargemaster,,, to RCBS hand scale,,, electric tooth brush trickler,,, super fast and frugal...

I spread out a few loose grains of powder on the table,,, a quick look at the beam tells me to add 1 or 3 depending where the balance line is...

Spot on most of the time,,, the trick is to be as fast as the chargemaster,,, ha...

Example: Set the CM .3 to. 4 of a grain less than needed at the weigth beam,,, then touch the spout of the trickler with TB...

Stop just before the lines are even,,, sweep up the guess-ti-mat grains needed to top off the charge...

A person gets pretty good at knowing how many to blance things off...
If I'm 1 curnel off I swoop 1 up and drop it into funnel the same time I drop the pan...

PS: Duck tape trickler to table,,, it prevents it from vibrating to much when doing the toothbrush thing,,, a bit more refine...

Adjust the angle of the trickler spout to get smaller amounts at a time...

Cheers from the North
