Powder suggestion please 6x47 and .22-250

I'm sorry, I've always tried to avoid asking this, and I've done a pile of googling but I'm hoping for some suggestions.

I just acquired a Model 600 Mohawk in 6x47, it has a Ron Smith gain twist barrel but I am yet to determine what the twist rate is.
I also have a Tikka M55 .22-250 enroute.

These are both new cartridges to me, the smallest of anything I own.

Any suggestions to what powder, if any, might work for the both of these?

I have some available to me through a friend who has quite a lot for sale, they are:
-Benchmark
-CFE223
-H380
-Win 748
-Win 760

The seller of the 6x47 said he had some success with W748 and 58gr Vmax.

I can get quite good pricing on the above powders, hoping one may work. At the same time I'm aware that everything shoots different etc.

Thanks.

I would figure out what the twist is on the 6x47
You should be able to figure it out pretty easy.
Then you can see what weight range of bullets will work with that twist the best.
What do you want the 6x47 to do? Target, varmint, longer range steel?

At least for your new .22-250 you might want to try CFE223. Mine shoots 52-grain AMax (thankfully I still have a good supply of them) brilliantly with it. I get almost as good results with Hornady 52-grain BTHPs with the same powder. Unfortunately, Hodgdon doesn't list it for your 6X47.

34.0 gr. of IMR4320 with a 52 gr. Sierra HPBT gives good accuracy with my Ruger 77V
37.0 gr. H4350 with a Berger 105 VLD is the best load for my 6 x 47 Nesika

Since you're in Canada as well, you might consider giving Ron a call to discuss this rifle to see if he can help with the twist rate, especially a gain twist. A short conversation with a follow up email from Ron might be just the ticket!

Your Tikka M55 is supposed to have a 1:14" twist rate which might limit your bullet selection to those in the 50 grain range.

Enjoy!

Just measure the distance required for 0.5 rotations starting from the muzzle end, and multiply by two, close enough. For bullet stability it’s the twist rate at the muzzle that you care about. Use a bore brush on a cleaning rod with bearings at the handle and make a flag with scotch tape near the handle end. Shove the brush into the muzzle, then measure how far for 1/2 rotation.

For the 22-250 Benchmark is an excellent powder for accuracy. I use it for my 22-250AI 7” twist for mid range F-class with 77gr CC’s. Does very well in my straight 22-250 as well with Sierra 52gr Matchkings.
Varget is king for speed AND accuracy for me with my hunting rig.

Cheers.

Planning to use it for short range bench rest at 100,200 and 300.
